A friend got a new truck.

What would be your goals for the k20? Now, can you achieve those goals? In other words, can you afford a set of tires? And would you want to fix up the body? Do you have the skills and money for that?

Basically, I know i have traded trucks cause I thought the grass would be greener on the other side. Only to realize the grass was already green where I was and my life prevented me from turning my newly acquired grass green.

Well It would be a toy / Git sh1t done truck / backup incase another vehicle goes down.

I have 2 more sets of tires, some Courser OTD's, 10 ply highway tires, and
2 sets of those 8-lug Dodge chrome wheels with spares
I also have a DMI cushion bumper I can put on it
I just remembered I have a seat cover too.

Apparently more than 2, especially when the guys who's truck were working on just wants to play with his new dirt bike.

 don't sound much like a real friend to me .

time to rethink this deal and maybe move on .

you show up to help him so he can drive to work and he don't care .

Well, me and him don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, but I've been really good friends with him since 1st grade.

That reminds me, is It possible to like a manufacturer but despise anyone who likes them?
Because from being around him has made me hate the guts of all Chevy people, Don't get me wrong, I love GM as a company, and their vehicles. But every single chevy person I know in person is as arrogant and narcissistic as they come, Can't accept the fact that a Dodge or a Ford can even move under its own power

Just me venting some.

We did get some stuff done today, since the weird 65 degree day passed and its snowing again. We got the spaghetti off the new engine, got the trans on, and got the motor mounts on. Only thing stopping us was that the van that this 4.3 came from had a trans cooler, this truck doesn't have one, and we have to wait for the junkyards to open tomorrow to get the piece to block it off.

HA! I totally agree. I can't stand the blind allegiance of the brand loyalist types.

your profile shows your young kid in school .

if there around same age its just dumb kid thinking .

and as a mechanic for 15+ years these days all brands suck . its just what vehicle can you put up with .

I have had my share of crap and great . but for me chevy just works .

like what you like and screw the rest of there . its not there ride. :D

For me, I have no brand loyalty. Even though I love the design of the 73-87 trucks, (or 73-91 Blazers, Suburbans), these trucks sure don't like me. I've had 4 of these rigs and they've all been very problematic. The best trucks I've ever owned were my 83 and 86 Fords. But no matter what, I keep finding my way back to The General.

That said, if I ever get a windfall of money, I'm buying a new Toyota Tacoma quad cab 4x4. I have friends with these trucks and they're practically indestructible.

I don't either, I have Two Chevy's, a Ford, and two Dodges
Now if it was me saying that, (the Ford part) They would have said I was a facking liar, and must have never even seen a GM anything.

And if you ever try anything remotely good about anything non-GM, the instant response is "lets hook em up motherfacker!"
The truck I'm putting this 4.3 in is already agreed to be in a pull off against an 84 F350 4x4 with a 460 and one against a 98 One ton V10 Dually Dodge as soon as its running.

I only have two good friends who aren't GM Nazis, and there Ford guys, and whats weird Is I can have a conversation with them that usually has to do with crate engines, or how they made a small block 460 that's still strong enough to drive everyday. While the conversations with the GM guys usually just ends up with something "ha ha ha ford, facking owners really dumb ha ha, theres some guy who says his 318 dodge was faster than that guys S10, damn liar"

So its pretty hard to have a conversation with them, a grown up conversation atleast.

Remember the white K20? well the guy who owns it told me he really liked my truck, the 94 F250. Well another GM Nazi friend of his, not mine, talked him out of it, or alteast without a lot of cash on my end.

Nope, Im not interested.

My first truck was an 86 K-10 4x4 with a 4.3 in it. It was the most gutless P.O.S. I've ever driven. I can't tell you how many times I had to wave a bird around me because he was on my arse trying like hell to pass.

Your friend sounds like he's dumb as a box of stupid rocks. And he's gonna get dragged around like a toy.

I tried to tell him that that was pretty hopeless, but I got the answer of "they don't have bowties, how in the hell can they win?!"
Also, he has a saying like that, but, as usual, he says it describes the mind of a Ford owner, Dumb as a bag of smashed assholes.
He came up with that one today.

Couple of years back, someone on here was doing a build and using 9" axles... maybe it was just the front. Either way, someone else here, a regular, old timer, was just completely up in arms over it. Despite all the scientific explanations as to how and why the Ford was a great design, as well as all the real life testimonials and the fact that it's extraordinarily popular/common in performance & racing applications, the guy just wanted to argue.

I think the owner of the truck was using a new "High 9" for ground clearance without going to bigger tires. The reasoning and tech was sound, but it wasn't GM, so OOOOOH GOD!!!

Back on topic time.
We should (knock on wood) have it in the truck Tuesday, (tomorrow hes hanging out with another friend of ours who just came home from Louisiana) And it should be running by Thursday.

we had to use a pipe wrench to get the trans cooler lines off

All other stupidity aside, arent the trans lines in the newer trucks all using the snap in retainers now? All three of the ones I've worked on have.

I had a friend that was a Chevy guy, actually he introduced me to ck5. He always hated fords until his blazer broke down and someone loaned him a 90s f-250. He sold he blazer and bought that 250. Before that he always talked crap about my ford, he used to say ford even circled the problem for you ( ford emblems have a ring around ford)
