A Little Extra Fuel Storage IDEA...

i had the same idea as wrench head but i guess youd need to be careful with it, i dont need that much gas on my k5, i kind of want to get a smaller tank, on a tow rig though i think it would be cool to have like 100 gallons at your disposal

my k5 has baffles in the tank, when i think about it i have never had problems even when the tank was tickling empty, i had a 95 jimmy though, when you had less then a quarter tank and slammed on the brakes it would cut out when the gas sloshed forward and you would lose your power brakes as the engine died, alot of scary happenings with that

The gauge has a delay. It masks the fluctuations.
It doesnt have a delay on the gas gauge........it has a baffle in the bottom of the tank that comes up midway around the float for when you turn a corner, the gas will move, but not very much.EDIT:in tbi equiped tanks.

When I changed my sending unit it was just the toilet tank float type w/o a baffle. On mine it takes a little while (a second?) for it to show how much is in the tank. Kind of like when you turn on your truck and it takes a second for it to come up to the fuel level instead of snapping up to the right spot. I was taught this is so the gas guage isn't always bouncing around.

yep, when I shut my truck off it drops down to about 1/2 tank (were talking when its full) then when I fire it back up it'll slowly move up to F.

thats because that's the gauges "default" location. when it has no power to it, that's where it goes. has nothing to do with movement of the sender.
