A little tig welding advise needed

have a good welder tig weld it back on or fill solid and drill / tap it out again.

DO NOT do a spool gun weld job wont hold .

lots of them and bell housing area's fixed this way.

For real... Get a mobile Tig welder to do it! :D
Simple, and should be relatively cheap. :dunno:

I would be worried about the strength of that Trans' Case...
If you follow us around, and it's that weak anywhere else, it's gonna break..

Could I run it around this way for a while?its only one ear,and could the welder do this with the 205 bolted onto it? Or do I remove the 205 ,again? Man, this blows ass!

what.... bolt less?

Probably; But its a bad idea...
I mean, they put it there for a reason... Right? :dunno:

:haha:

Its been over a year, and its always somethin,im trying to get out to pc, but,,,:doah: so how much will this repair cost? ,,,should cost?

I would recommend welding it solid, drilling and re taping the threads, it will be stronger than welding it back on. In order to fill solid and tap you will have to remove the tcase. You can prob. get a good welder to weld the piece back on with the tcase still on, just not as strong of an option.

Should be that much to weld it up. If I had a tig welder Id do it for ya, its a pretty easy weld.

The welding should be cheap....
You could tap the damned thing yerself.

Taking the T-case off sucks, tho... I feel for you.
I hate these kind of stupid little setbacks.

My buddy said he doesn't have access to a tig, atm.... :doah:
hmm...

:thumb: im gonna just get an extra long bolt and lock washer it for now :doah:
I've done waaaaaay worse... :D

I'm hittin' DMV, Monday.
Chris has Wed., and thursday off... (I believe.)

Forecast says rain.... But, if it's nice/decent out, we're wheelin'.

You in?

If your gonna to a temp fix use JB weld. I know its sounds silly but i have seen that stuff hold longer than it should have, that with a nut and lock washer should hold ya over!

a good welder will walk away from a item if it has jb weld on it. have to grind off a lot more of it to base material to get a good weld to fix it right.

that 205 is a lot of weight to have hanging via 3 bolts now and even 4 was a little close to min needed if you ask a lot of guys.

do as you wish but its a simple easy fix to DO IT RIGHT

So,moving on to other problems, the 205 crossmember bolt holes are not lining up to the frame,is it common to drill holes in this crossmember to get it to fit? Or should I get a hi jack lift and spread her? If I do that tho, it will put the other crossmember outta wack:doah: thanks for all the replies thus far, I appreciate it!!!my rig needs help!

Frame to narrow, member to long,it was off another truck, I went from a 203 to 205:thumb:

fyi thay use the same crossmembers if the 1 hole for rubber mounts is slotted.

and there all the same width .

like said before in here take a high lift and squeaze it apart just a bit and it will line up.
