I know where a '73 is sitting in the woods that a guy wants to get rid off that I am a little interested in. It has no motor or tranny and has rust in the typical places, but I seen some rot in the door jam next to the hinges. The door doesn't want to open or close very well. Should I buy this K5 or pass. I know that it is the only year of this body style. Or is it too much trouble?

73-75 are all that body style, fyi. Mind you, they're prolly all rusty and they all have leaks on the top and issues with doors closing :D

Give em $50 to take it off his hands. Once you get it home look it over and see what you can/can't do with it.

I thought it was '73 to half of '80.

And if it's a total piece of garbage, you should be able to get your $50 back at the scrap yard. :waytogo:

Ya, I would go the $50 route as well. I got my 73 with a small amount of rust, but complete and running for $1500 (with 6"lift and swampers). If worse comes to worse, you can scrap it or part it and get your $50 back. See what kind of axles are under it too. Mine has the stock D44/12B limited slip combo, and it is the Cheyenne model (stock tow hooks in the front too, and A/C!)

Well if your good with a welder and like replacing sheet metal and doing body work go for it. Fenders, hood, and doors can be swapped since theres so many of these trucks out there. But rot on body by door hinges will need some cutting, shaping metal and welding. Just dont pay more than what you could get rid of it for.

Well, 73-75 is full convertible a la the 69-72's.

But yeah, the front clip and such is the same 73-80.

Depends if you define "body style" to include "roof style" or not :wink1:

Gotcha. I thought that might have been the case but I wasn't sure. :waytogo:
