A VT Build

Finished up drivers quarter where the CB antenna used to live and the moulding holes filled & ground.

Passengers side floor, can't imagine what the holes where put there for.

Did you replace a big section of metal in the hinge pillar, or did you grind and fill? Mine wasn't as bad as that so I just fixed the cracks, but I'm curious how well that will hold up compared to replacing it with new metal.

Decided to weld up the cracks and keep it simple, hope it works out.
I had the same thoughts as you mentioned.

New tool for the shop.

Nice work (as usual!!)

Sometimes it just takes a small job to break the spell. :waytogo:

Indeed.....a couple nights ago I didn't quite know what I wanted to do, but I wanted to "log some hours" on the Might As Well project. So I went out and spent an evening with a my stripping discs and wire wheel and cleaned almost the entire drivers side of the firewall of paint and aftermarket rubberized undercoating.

It wasn't a sexy change, but sometimes you just have to do SOMETHING to move forward even if it feels more symbolic than meaningful.

I like that water separator also, reminds me of something else I probably should deal with in my own shop.

The water trap has been on the 'should get' list for awhile now and with the addition of the plasma cutter and the intent to paint soon, I figured I "might as well" get one. :smirk:

Uncovered & cleaned up the rest of the uglies and cut out the small amount of existing rust.

Looking good!! I'm jealous of how clean that body is.:o

I'll bet the holes in the firewall were for an under dash A/C unit.

dude you are a body work guru. I cant even tell u welded in replacement pieces

Thanks for sayin' but I'll tell ya, the dent I decided to go after on Sunday was a major biatch, had three nasty bends and one smashed in body line.

Has to be the one of the worst areas to fix & one of the most common to get mucked up. :grind:

Not finished and having welder issues, well more like rust on the back side of the panel issues but here's a couple more before pics showing the dents better and the current state of things now.

:eek1:  Hey you think you can come fix the dents in my fender? You are awsome! :waytogo:

Decided to cut out the drivers side rocker too after seeing what the interior of the passengers side looked like.

The drivers side had about 5/6 little rust through holes anyway, thought it best to just start cutting. :grind:

Whoa...been 5 months since the last update. :draw:

Things were on hold for this one for a bit while I got the blue blazer sold, finished up and delivered, so back at it.

Priming the firewall this weekend and with luck, will have time to paint it during the coming week, weather permitting.

Quick pic of the green primer.

Seeing a tub in primer is an exciting development......a single color (even if it's primer) feel like REAL progress. :saweet:
