About to buy a lockright for my d44

I an a bit late in thei thread. But If you havent bought a locker yet. You really should consider An Aussie locker. They are cheaper than either Lockrite or ez Loc and from everything I have heard the are better than both. I dont have personal experience with one because they dont make them for 10 bolts yet. But they do make them for D44 front and rear. I guy I wheel with now and then has one in his Jeep with D44 and loves it.
Here's some more info:http://www.offroadlockers.com/home.php/AUSSIE/.html

Here's a review of the Aussie from PORhttp://www.pirate4x4.com/productreviews/aussie/

I put this up because there has been little talk about Aussie lockers here. Even tho they look just like lockrite and EZ LoC. They are a new design the teeth are at better angles. and the springs/pins are a lot stronger They are made from a stronger alloy than lockrite.

ok. on a 10b front do you have to remove the axles to install a quick lock or lock rite? or can they slide enough to install it without?

I agree that the aussie is the best one. Dana 44's are the only Aussie's you can get for our trucks though (no 10, 12, or 14 bolt or dana 60 or 70 lockers).

You have to take 1 spindle off so you can slide the axle out far enough to get the spider gears out and the lock rite in but you dont have to completly remove the axle. But IMO it is a good idea to completly remove it to check the outer housing bearings.

Got it. backed out one side.

As fer bearings every damn thing on this is new or swaped out with good stuff from other units. BTW I had welded the spiders and they were in pieces after 1 hour of playing around this weekend. glad I did this right away and didnt wait or try and mess around again like that. I am a dum arse sometimes and have to learn the hard way.

Sounds interesting. I may just get the aussie locker then . Anyone else have any experience postive/negative?

OK she is in. I did have to back out 1 axle, even with that it was very straight forwards and easy. The instructions go way to far. It said it would take 3 hours and it took 2. I could have done it a lot faster if I knew what the hell I was doing.:D OK I am ready to go play now.

I was over at POR and did some searching on Aussie lockers. Found this long thread it covers a time span of over 3 years of info on them. It is an interesting read.

Also read in another thread where the owner said Aussie lockers for GM corp diffs and D60s were in the works. Some Could possibly be out in a year.
I bet if some email to torq masters from Ck5 members were to fill up their box it might hurry things along.
