Heres the problem I am having when I first got the truck it blew hot air so I added 3 cans of freon. After adding the freon the ac clutch would cycle on and off real fast on off on off on off. When I jump the cycling switch the clutch would stay on so I tried replacing the switch but nothing still the same problems. After a day or two the clutch would not even come on only when jumping the switch. Next I added some UV dye and found no leaks anywhere what the hell could be wrong? I have check fuses, the ground, for leaks and still no cold air.

You obviously have a leak somewhere. If you can jumper the low pressure switch and the AC will then engage the clutch it is low on freon. I had a very small leak at the AC pump where the two pieces mate together. You may want to dye the system again and check there real good.

Ok looks like I found the leak its around the ac compressor. I guess my next step would be replacing the compressor?

That's what i had to do. So how did you finally find the leak, did you dye the system again?

No I ran the truck for a while around town and tried looking again and boom there it was around the ac compressor.

I guess this means I would have to replace the ac compressor correct. Would I have to replace any other ac components?

Yep, swap out the compressor. Shouldn't be anything else needed unless you have other problems.

would giving the compressor a rebuild/overhaul be enough?
some say just take it to a welding shop and let them weld the places where its leaking.

is that ok??

Sure, that's a great idea. So, is the guy that recommended that gonna pay for the new compressor you'll have to put on when that doesn't work? (In other words, NO, that's a stupid idea.):doah:

Ok thanks to every one for there help. I replaced the compressor, orphus tube and the dryer. It blows as cold as my 2008 GMC.

Just curious but what did a compressor run ya? Im thinking about gettin the AC in my beater going again. I need to get a couple cans of freon and try to recharge it first though. Im sure its going to be full of nightmares. It hasnt worked in 10 years.
