Does anyone no of an option for ac refill? I read a thread awhile back that gave the link to an inexpensive option like 4.50 a can. I did a search and cant find it. Any remember this thread?
It's propane-based, but behaves similar to R-12, except you use a smaller charge. It's somewhat sketchy legally, but it will work, and from what they say it's compatible with R12/R134 systems.
I'm I reading their chart right? Instead of using 48 ounces like our trucks are supposed to with r-12/r134, they want us to use 18 ounces of their stuff?
There's several R12 replacements out there. People have also used believe it or not propane... Although, it's not recommended for automobiles, but has been done.
It worked fine for me. I bought all the stuff (refrigerant, dye, oil, etc) and charged it up. It does take less quantity though so be careful not to overcharge. It operates under similar pressures as conventional refrigerant so you can use the gauges if you have them already, and at least for me the R-12 pressure switch seems to be working ok
