I did a search on this but didn't get many definite answers. I have a diy4x shackle flip, 2" block and stock springs. I want to get rid of my blocks and add my zero rate to move my axle back 1.5". Being a poor college kid my friend has a set of 2" long add a leaves i could get for cheap to hopefully replace the block. I know they stiffen up the ride but with my stock springs i think it would almost help cuz they are soooo soft i have extreme axle wrap and have even broken one from inverting them so much. This K5 is a DD/wheeler once a month. So who has put a LONG add a leaves in worn out stock springs? Where exactly do you put them in the pack? i keep reading below everything but b4 the overload? or after the first spring ontop? thanks for any advice!
 
Ive always installed the AAL between the bottom overload and the last actual arched spring in the pack. Be forget to find new center pins if you add. Personally if I was adding a AAL to my stocker pack id throw the stock O/L in the trash unless you really load that thing up..
 
yeah i planned on doing that. i just hope doesnt effect ride to much and actually gives me the 2" lift.

the add a leaf goes between the last arched spring and the overload.i would leave in the overload as it gives you a quarter inch of lift also.it doesnt really affect the ride much either.make sure as was said to replace with alonger center pin.it will net a 2 inch lift by affecting the overall spring rate.adding a zero rate will give a inch of lift also.so you would end up around 7 to 8 inches of total lift to match 8 inch springs.
 
I think you get about an 1" of lift out of the overload don't you? Thats about how thick mine are...
 
He's talking about a long add a leaf. Goes between the top most leaf and the second one down. You get less lift than a short add a leaf but it acts more like a leaf that was supposed to be there from the start. Less harshness and less sagging.

I put on in the rear pack on my '96 Ranger and I liked it. More work but the soft spring pack stayed pretty soft and I got about an inch of lift and less axle wrap.
