Advice on buying 1969 c10

Evidently this guy did.:D..(still wonder if it's John Holmes truck )..

The GMC longhorn is a rare beast, they made less GMC versions than Chevy's,plus having a BBC already and 4 wd,I'd say you wont find a better deal than that..frankly I'm surprised its listed so "cheap",usually one of those in shabby condition will still net 7-10K up here..(and it wont have a BBC most likely)..the long bed may be a turn off to some, but the rarity of the Longhorn will make up for that ..

Personally I've owned only 8 foot bed pickups ,and cant see paying twice as much for less cargo capacity--they aren't THAT better looking really in my eyes either....but I'm the guy who'd buy a 4 door Chevelle and love it just as much as a 2 door too...

Ok... it’s mine $3000 got it.
Maybe I can start a build page? You can guarante there will be threads for this truck with my questions..
Hopefully the mods will be cool with that being it’s not a 4x4...

Congrats!
looking forward the the build thread.

I’ve been browsing some builds and videos on YouTube.
If I had the $$ I would. I just want to get it back together and only replace what really needs it... But I’m sure the OCD will kick in.

I’m already looking how to take the bed off to clean and paint what I can get to with the cab on.

I saw some nifty performance tubular motor mounts, that will make headers easier to fit. Hahahahaha.

I’m going with her to look at it in person on Wednesday she is nice and insists I do so again before giving her the $$. Unless there is something I missed And no significant rust holes I doubt I won’t get it. And even if there are, they can be fixed. But the cab floors / rockers all looked solid in the pics.

I don’t want to slam it. It is already dropped but not sure what drop. Looks 3/4 static coil cut type drop. We’ll see

If anyone has source for 69’ grill message me. I don’t want to use the a billet grill it has
Or the roll rear pan bumper. Im Not into the step bumper

Went and checked it..
Absolutely zero rust that I could find. Everything is there and the only reason it was taken apart was to paint it.
Has rebuilt 350, I will only need to paint and put in freeze plugs, transmission rebuilt with receipt. He has the compression numbers written down along with other notes.

She and her dad are giving me an engine stand for it and his engine hoist for $50...

All the nuts/ bolts etc are tagged and bagged.
It will need hood for sure...

Hopefully this works out...and here we go.
I will pick it up in a week or so.

dont worry, there’s hidden rust under the front cab supports. still a decent deal.

In the pictures I’ve posted you can see it?

No, they all have rust unless they sat in a museum all their life. Some minor hints of rusty color at the footwell and the outside fender mount. They rust from the inside out so you don’t always see it until you peel it open. Wouldn’t change a thing though, it’s a nice looking truck.

Thanks... haha. Rust free is probably an overstatement but with what I usually see as “rust free” or “minimal rust”
This truck is rust free... Hahahaha

if it says rust free, that just means the rust that’s there doesn’t cost extra.

Truth.

The problem spots on these trucks are tend to be core support under the battery, rockers, and cab corners. The rockers and cab corners are due to lousy water drainage design. They'll have some.

Looks like a great project though. I would have bought it too.
