so after playing with the dash ect and getting it up to shape the aftermarket stereo in the dash was just put in and hanging loosely and sloppy with 2 screws..
Pulled it out in like 1 min lol
Is there a cage, brace, or idea or way to set it in pproperly so it’s a nice tight fit that other have done or used?

Not really worried about theft if someone wants it they will get it but don’t want it wobbling and bouncing around...

Thanks

All aftermarket radios should have a cage they slide into. The cage has tabs that you bend to lock cage in place. Depending on the dash, that can be enough. It’s not in the square body. The next step is to use the back strap to bolt the back of the radio to the dash frame. Most head units come with the piece. It’s usually an inch wide and 8-10” long with holes in it.

Ya it didn’t come with anything but I can get a metal strip with holes and tighten it up.
Thanks

I thought there was a factory rear bracket/strap that held the OEM radio. A bit stronger than those straps that came with aftermarket radios. I tried looking and couldn't find any pics. This was for my 89' anyways.....

here is a picture of a GM factory bracket that holds a radio in place. They may not work for an aftermarket radio because they may not have the mounting stud in the back of the radio to use this bracket.

It would probably still work. Aftermarket radios have a threaded hole for these types of mounting.

I've never had any of mine come loose or wobble, without the rear strap. Although, a lot has to do with how well the dash was cut. If the hole is too big, the radio may never fit snug.
