I have access to several out of cert but still fully filled SCBA bottles. I see guys using these on the trail for airing back up etc but whats needed in the way of airlines or regulators?? The threaded nipple off the valve looks to be some odd ball thread??
Thanks guys.

You just need a regulator with an adapter for your air line. Most fire trucks have this type of setup onboard for quick access to air pressure for air bag jacks etc. I use the SCBA bottles to fill up the tires on the fire trucks, since they have such high reserve pressure. The ones I use are filled to 2500 psi, but the guys are using bottles that are filled to 4500 psi.

I have a 20# co2 bottle and I use a fixed 150 psi regulator that I got from polyperformance. it's great for running air tools as well, altho most tools are rated at 90 psi, 150 doesn't seem to hurt em, from what I read and from 2 years of experience w/ my set-up. there are a lot of places that sell regulators, fixed or adjustable, online - check soda, balloon, welding, and fire extinguisher shops, don't forget some off-road shops will carry them too. I've seen some guys install a gauge, but it is useless, the co2 gas inside keeps the tank pressurized until it's empty - and when it's empty, you won't need a gauge to tell you. here's some info on co2 tanks, and places to get em filled
