I would think the compressor from any semi truck could easily be perma installed and they are plenty durable and inexpensive, and have a 90% duty cycle. You could even incorporate the glad hand system to add a removable tank or increase tank size in case you would need more room. Keep in mind you will want to run an underdrive pulley on the deisel compressor as they only rev to 3grand max in most cases but with a little fore thought it would be an easy install. As far as storage tanks, I would think a low profile tank like a contractors compressor from harbor freight. They should hold enough air to use most air tools, with very little wait time between uses.
