air horn on my 91 burb....

hey guys, ive got a hadley air horn set-up on my rig, and its got this weird vacuum run pump that goes to a tank, then to the horns... first off, the pump makes the truck run like crap, and when i do have it hooked up, it takes almost for ever for it to build enough pressure to give a good blast, (and yea, it only really works at idle when there is actuall vacuum i know) so heres my question, i really dont want to spend 150 bucks on an electric pump, but from what i can find, is that is what i really need. does anyone have any input on what i can use for a pump? it needs about 80 to 100 PSI i think?

vacc. run pump??? huh....does that mean the vac runs a pump that makes air??? or do they somehow work off vac.??? if it runs a pump that runs the air to the tanks you can get a little air compressor that will only run when the tank gets empty to a certain point. they're all over the place for fairly cheap.

My buddys got the same one on his 90 blazer, taps into the egr valve, right? or pcv valve, one of the two, maybe neither, I could be wrong, have been before....

mine runs off the brake booster... theres a 1/2 tube that comes out of the top of it, and runs to the pump. the pump runs off of vacc. the pump pumps away, and you can feel the air coming out of the outlet, but i dont think its nearly enough to to fill the tank. and also when its open like that, the truck runs like it has a vacuum leak. go figure.

I would think a vacuum cannister (like used for AC controls, if not larger depending on need) would be the easiest/best way to run it. Just put a one-way valve in the line "feeding" the tank, that way it would always be ready, short of right when you start the truck I suppose.
