Aircompressor Direct - Ok To Buy From?

I am about to buy a new Quincy from Aircompressor Direct. Has anyone used them and what was your thoughts? My local guy I would love to give him the business but he is 60% more in cost.

The shipping was free and I just backed my truck up to the semi (warning, my truck has a 6" lift and 36s and it was still 5 inches too low) to slide it out, no liftgate fee then. Although then you have to get it out of your truck.

They basically have it drop shipped directly from Quincy and it was in a wooden crate and didn't have a scratch on it, came with the quincy production test papers, etc. I would order from them again.

So far yes, runs real quiet and even the motor and pump are made in the USA, most of the competition makes either nothing, or just the tank in the USA, and then outsources the pump and motor and "assembles" it in the USA. I got the 60 gallon. Does everything I need it to do. Only thing is sometimes I wish I would of gotten the 80 gallon when using the blasting cabinet because I can blast continuously, but eventually it drops to about 80 psi and stays there. I cannot blast continuously at 100 psi if I need to, only for a while. Although I am not sure the extra 2 cfm would of made a difference for $600, and the next step up was approaching $3k. So I bought the best one I had the money for and I am happy with it, you can tell when you get it its a solid piece of equipment, and the pump life is 50,000 hours, most of the competition is 5,000, maybe 10 or 12,000 hours, but quincy is built to last in the USA.

I have two Atlas 50hp screws at work if I really need to blast. This is in my home (attached ) garage and I don't want the noise or take away from my dinky garage. I like the Quincy stuff because my local Atlas guy also services Quincy along with Jenny. I thought about getting a horizontal Jenny because I would prefer horizontal, but the cost for what I get is not going to work.

Then I would say the 60 gallon quincy vert would easily do what you need, I even use it to blast.

I think I need around 5 or 6 for the plasma cutter @ 90, with spray guns around 13 but at 23 psi. Other than the grinder, I am covered with the 60 5hp.

spraying takes a lot less than you think.. your not pulling the trigger constantly... blasting consumes the most easily... but I effectively run a 20 lb HF pressurized unit with it, keeps up fine...

the 2 stage quincy kicks arse... usually it's $100 more than an IR, but I liked what Quincy was about, so I ponied that up.. very happy with it...

Most of the IRs until you go to the T30 pump are imports that everyone gripes about. I would prefer to buy a T30 but they are some darn big and my garage is small. The Quincy will fit into a nice corner spot. Other thing I like is they seem to be pretty quiet.

eh, I'm not super impressed with how quite the 2 stages are.. I thought they would be quieter.. light years better than the oilless screaming banshees, but not super quite in the shop...

building an insulated enclosure around mine is on my to-do list...

My only concern with that is my garage can get pretty cold and I don't want to beat on it more than I need to by having no heat go to it. Another words, I only heat my garage when I work in it and it would take a while to heat anything metal and then be in a shelter also.

Put this way, we have had Lake Effect rain for the last couple days because it has been so cold coming across a warm Lake Ontario and it is August. Not always sure why I live here.

eh, my heat was broke all winter this yr.. I still run the pee out of it..the electric motor and comp just get to an operating temp..

I am on the north shore Oneida Lake or the lake they have the Bass Master tourney on. I am also about 45 minutes roughly from Lake Ontario. Where are you going?

I ended getting the Quincy and love it, but I bought on sale from local store that just open for a lot less than Aircompressordirect.

Just for another data point, I just installed a Curtis 80 gallon upright that is rated at around 18 cfm @ 175 psi. Very well made in the USA, very quiet. So far I really like it.
