OK so this guy owes my land lord money. He left this 10' Alaskan Camper here and will not respond to my land lord. He is wondering what he should do with it.......
1. Take the guy to small claims court and get judgement for the camper.

2. Just dispose of it. I was present when the bought the thing and I know he did not get a receipt for it.

So after searching I turn to you all what is this thing worth?

Doesn't this post sorta belong in the lounge?? Not to be picky but...

Not that I know much about campers, but I do know a bit about being a landlord, and that looks like 1) An eysore 2) A complete LIABILITY 3) An expense

I'd be willing to bet that your landlord will be awfully lucky if he could sell that thing for whatever he's owed. Just an opinion, but it looks like that thing saw its last useful days about 20 years ago!

Edit: Is the little red utility trailer a leave behind too?? If so, that thing is likely worth something at least!

A) get a judgment against the guy for what he owes.
B) charge storage for camper (add to amount of item A)

This forum is for the general discussion of almost any truck-related topic. I thought it fit better here than lounge :dunno:

The red trailer is his for his skidster (Bobcat).

Sheriff said he could not junk it with out having ownership because the dead beat could then sue him for damages..... :doah:

Man, what a headache for your landlord huh? These are definitely the stories that prove how complicated renting can be at times. Ain't that just throwing salt in the wound now too, the guy owes him $$$ and he can't just shove that junk off the cliff and get it off his land if he wants to! :sign27:

Do you know what year it is? Alaskan campers are worth quite a lot, I have a 1964 8 foot non-cabover that my dad bought and restored.

I can't see your pictures but I know a fair bit about them, Is it a cabover model? You said It was a 10 foot?

We got ours with no floor and the upper sides peeling off at 55, and we still have about $2000 for it.

:sign17:Exactly… Alaskan campers have quite the loyal following. They are sort of the Airstream camper of the pickup camper world. Even in rough unrestored shape I would say it is worth at least $500-$700 to the right guy….perhaps even more. Don’t just junk it because it looks like an eyesore. Toss it on the classified section of Expedition Portal, classifieds are free there.

I am guessing from the numbers stamped on the lower left edge they start with 77 so probably a 1977? Yes an over the cab. send me your email I'll send ya the pictures.

Wow, I guess one mans trash is another mans treasure! Looks like if your landlord has the place to store the thing and it doesn't detract from other people renting from him he might be able to rocoup some cash. That's at least some consolation!

I'd be interested to see what it brings some day if he sells it!

Judging from the pictures you sent me, it is in about 70% better shape than mine when I got it, and a 10 FT cabover Is a very desirable size.

It also looks quite a lot like mine, furnishing, window and door wise, (atleast when I got it) And mine is a 1964.

Like I said, we paid around $2000 for ours, and it was quite a lot rougher, even the hydraulics were shot, And it is an 8 FT non-cabover.

In general, the landlord cannot dispose of any property that the tenant owns and has left there until a certain amount of time has passed. He should check the state laws on that one.

If he disposes of it, and is wrong by even one day, he can expect big fines paid to the tenant.

Yep check the laws on it. certified letter return receipt requested to last known address maybe do an internet search and send to all addresses stating that he has a certain amount of time whatever the law says or it will be disposed of. If he knows what town the person is in maybe an add and keep a copy.
