All aftermarket gauges?

Has anyone replaced ALL of their dashboard gauges with aftermarket ones?
Not the era dash, but it is in my 75'. Just to give you an idea of custom fabrication. Needed something new. I did my 78' and 75' with the stock dash already.

Here is a pic of the gauges I'm using in my 69.

The speedo and tach positions are now reversed.

I love the look of these gauges mounted behind the panel, but I've got NO need for a 10K rpm tach or a 160 mph speedo. I'd love to find a nice 100 mph and 7K rpm speedo and tach that was 5", but no-one seems to make them.

that's Mike Ervin's setup. i posted a link to his writeup on www.73-87.com . he can be contacted through www.67-72chevytrucks.com where he goes by "SwervinErvin"

I know what you mean about the "bling" high digit speedos and tachs. Take a look at Stewart Warner offerings (8000 RPM tach, 120 MPH speedo), alittle more useful :wink1:

So which gauges are the best to go with, for an off road vehicle (Other than none)..Mechanical or Digital?

analog gauges are by far easier to read in a vehicle no matter what its intended purpose. your mind doesnt have to make the numbers register in your head. you just see a needle and know about where its supposed to be.

Becuase it indicates proportion, ie, 1/2 way to blown engine, etc...:haha:

The only 120 MPH speedos I found on the site were 3 3/8". :dunno:

I used digital gauges not because I have any particular liking for them, but because I'm all about waterproof. It's much easier to make a tidy waterproof connector for wiring, and have it be disconnectable, then trying to RTV a bunch of mechanical speedo/oil/etc lines going through a grommet.

Like I said, I'm all about functionality.

electrical analog gauges are just as easy to wire as digitals...

I would love to do this but I think I need the "Service Soon" light area to pass visual emissions check. Anyone have a way around that?

Just find the wire, and wire a light to it. Take a marker and write "Service Engine Soon" next to it. That would be the most ghetto way. Everything is better from there.
