All hydro assist ppl check in

I'm sure it's been done successfully, but I'd be a little hesitant to tap the factory end cap. The JKW cap isn't very expensive and worth the extra insurance IMO. That's the way I'm going to do it.
thats prolly the best way to do it...im just a cheap a$$..

so back to the question what is the diagram or method that you guys use. cause i know a bunch of guys running stop pumps and thats it with 56" tractor so... but then again we mud mainly

If you do a search you'll find a ton of posts on this with some really detailed diagrams and explanations. It really is worth spending some time researching and printing off stuff. Many of us have done it and written about it in detail.

No extra reservior or cooler here. Running 37's and welded front. No problem once I did the pump mods to increase flow. Prior to that it would push fluid out going one way and then suck it dry.

I would seriously recommend a cooler to anyone running hydro assist.

The first cooler I had would get too hot to touch sometimes :eek1:

IMO without a cooler it won't be long until you burn your fluid and everything else.

Hey I think you promised some people pictures. Both in this thread and in some PM's.

Do I need to paypal you some ransome money or something? :p:

Ok Here is what works for us

Rock Logic 4x4 Ram 1.5x8"
Long hoses 48" or comparable for droop
Pump flow mods WTO http://westtexasoffroad.homestead.com/powersteering.html
Cooler from tranny, or Late model Chevy PS coolers easy to find at junk yard or online
Extended res either with radiator hose or a seperate unit like the Trail Gear res
Either porting the PS box your self or your caps. If you want to rebuild your box to tap it go ahead, but make sure to clean it out well.
Or go with ported caps which can be swapped to a new PS box easily if your box ever breaks

Also HD tie rods are a must as well as strong mounting points/welds
Highsteer is a bonus, it helps keep your ram out of the rocks
Frame repair kits and braces are important as well

Here's how my box is tapped. There really is no way your tires could hit the lines:
