So with the addition of two new poeple in my family in the last 6 weeks. One being my son Sawyer and the other being my 16 yr old niece who is living with us for at least a year. I need another seat in Horton.

No real room to put a real seat in, just need somewhere to buckle Sawyers car seat in. Was thinking a foam ( read actually high density upholstery foam) cushion and a normal lap belt in between the front seats for Sawyer.

What think ye.

One more good thing about the Silverado seats I put in, the pass side has those little metal hooks for a car seat to hook to making installing a childs car seat a no brainer.

So oddly enough I still have all the holes for the orginal bench seat. I am going to look further into just throwing the bench back in it for now.

Hmmm we will see

Your old bench would probably be the easiest solution, BUT... I hate the way the lap belts hold the car seats in. After three kids, I would look into mounting the metal hoops or something similar that are required in all new vehicles for kids seats somehow. They make the car seats so much more secure than using just the lap belt!!!

You need a 4 door! I used to have to use a bungee cord on the kids seats with the shoulder belts in the s10. They would start leaning to the inside and the 1 kid would be leaning against the other. So if you go with the lap belt be ready to add some bungees ora ratchet. strap. especially if you plan on having the kids ride thru obstacles. My kids like riding so had to come up with something. My two are in the booster seat style now so we will see how that pans out.

Thanks for the info scott. I will get into this more next week got all sorts of ideas I need to visit the wrecking yard with a measuring tape

I am thinking Horton is now too narrow for a standard bench. You may need to look for an older Sub rear bench or similiar that is a bit shorter. I guess it is going to depend on how much you narrowed Horton, but I think with the amount I remember you taking out, you are going to need to do something different.

How many seats do you have now? I got my K5 to 6 passenger by removing the front console and putting a late model center seat/console thingy in there.

3rd Row Seat...

I built a 3rd row seat that sits on the bed sides and bolts go into the existing nuts (that are used to hold the camper top on). It seats 4 adults comfortably, and no ones died in it yet. :-P It easily comes off so I can put the top back on. Below is a link to a YouTube video I made a couple years ago of our July 4th trip. You can see more of the 3rd row seat in it...

For a party mobile that might work, really bad idea for moab though. Please don't put your kids in something like that for moab or any actual off roading.

yah wont' work here I wheel this thing hard, you have to be ready for a roll over any time. Plus if I built anything back there it would only be wide enough to seat one!

You know I won't build anything like that Scott :haha: The third seat it is, going to build it in between the two front seats, basically an L shaped seat with 4" of cushion on it, going to use the base for his car seat I think too, it will make it better overall.

Hoping to start on this beginning of next week
