All things Drag Racing.

Took the Camaro to the track last night with some buddies. My one friend just put a new 351W and C4 in his Ranchero and he was doing some tuning on it. This is the same guy who said "lets run stock for stock and see" last year then swapped his 2.90 gears for 3.20s the week before we got to run the first time.

Plugging my numbers into Excel this morning to help me visualize my runs:

Without kids in the car (which we had to make passes with the kids because they love it) shows my 60' times are pretty consistent at .0074!

My quickest time was the 10.666. I got caught by surprise and panicked and have NO IDEA what I did. I'm thinking that I short shifted though, because I know I pushed it to 5k on the next pass and slowed down quite a bit. I'm thinking my little 305 just runs out of cam at 4k and going to even 4500 is just too much.

The progression from here will be:
1. Front struts
2. A/C
3. Rear Gears and traction unit (3.23 from 2.73)
4. Trans rebuild, TransGo shift kit, Converter

I'm thinking that with the gears and a good converter and transmission I can get VERY close to a 10 flat, if not dip into the 9s.

I’ll have time later. Shoot me your number and we’ll chat over the phone
Converted to 1320’

Last time we were there, we only got about 3 runs in. College kids are all gone for the summer.

We could have gotten several more but we were making changes to Matt's Ranchero and letting them cool down a little between runs.

Haha, I highly doubt it having been around that place since the 80a

Bandimere ain’t sharing with nobody. They know if someone don’t like only running the 1/8th mile in Pueblo they can always come up and race at their track.

You've eluded to it before from some of the rule bending when you ran HS.
The folks that ran the track always looked down their nose at the tracks and cars from Julesburg and Pueblo

SO here's my half:
The first season I raced, dad didn't have a car until half way through the season. I finished in the top 3 in the HS class.
I didn't know I was supposed to be invited to run on team Bandimere at the ET finals.

Next year dad and I were both high enough in points to qualify, neither of us were invited, again.
So team Julesberg extended an offer to dad since they had an open spot

We go to Topeka, and start hearing the horror stories from other racers around the country of BS that Bandimere has pulled over the years
While we were there, other racers and track officials from Bandimere asked dad why he had a J on the window.
So we made sure they knew we got stiffed

Next year it happened again. We had started running a Pueblo by then, and they made sure we were invited
At the finals , Team Pueblo and Team Julesburg intentionally lined next to Bandimeres cars. Dad took out the track points leader at the finals 2 years running
The following year they tried to run me out of Club Clash because my 68 was "too loud" ("street class" had to have DOT tires and mufflers. Admittedly I was barely within the rules)

The sponsor was DynoMax. The sales rep came over while I was filling out my protest paperwork and said how nice the car sounded, right in front of everyone complaining
Thats pretty much how everything went dealing with the track

They are pretty high on themselves there. John jr and his brother Dave have been trying to buy Dad’s dual quad ‘57 for years now. Allegedly they had a legit Black Widow ‘57 150 sedan with the fuelie engine. So they have a thing for 57’s and tri-fives in general.

They are still looking for it.

I haven’t raced on the track since college. We’ve gone to car shows up there quite a bit since I moved back from Detroit. When I do go back I’m not going to be going serious like chasing points. Friday nights every now and then. The less track politics the better.
