I don't get the no prep deal.... Seems to just cause carnage and chaos. :dunno:
I understand watching it, because of those things. But I don't get why people risk their cars and selves on it.

Just my own thoughts....

It's kinda like rock racing, or rock bouncing (?) IMO.
To prove what a person can do.
Different hobby for different people.
 
It's exciting and entertaining. The carnage and chaos is part of the attraction.
I can watch no prep on 1320video all day, whereas NHRA Pro Stock, Super Comp, etc put me to sleep.
Top fuel and funny car are still fun to watch though.

It’s 1/8th mile only in this case (which I’m not really used to myself) but I think it’s good for the area even with Bandimere coming back.

Besides, northern Colorado has had a pretty massive increase in population in the last 20-30 years. I can remember going to that circle track in my high school years in the early 90’s and outside of the track and a few junkyards nearby it was all farmland. Guys that wanted to drag race had a long haul down to Morrison where Bandimere used to be.

The interesting question is that population growth has a lot of housing near the circle track. I’m curious if the county made developers and home buyers sign off on the fact that they did build /buy homes near an active noisy racetrack.

The video shows equipment grading out the track location so I’m guessing the county signed off on construction already, but I’m wondering if the neighborhood try’s to fight it on the idea they didn’t expect a second track to be built on the location.

Of course this begs another question too. The Bandimere family have hinted to the new facility being multi-use. I could have swore they mentioned a circle track on the property as well as a way to diversify and have more events/races. Is the drag strip at CNS a preemptive strike? Seeing Bandimere’s plans made them think if they put in a circle track that might take away drivers and fans in seats they could do the same by putting up the drag strip.

Personally nothing the greater front range area could support two drag strips. Just a well as two circle tracks. There had been other tracks that had come and gone of both styles. The circle track I’m thinking of was I think Rocky mountain speedway east of Denver that was a dirt track that consistently brought in the world of outlaws sprint car series.

As far as drag strips goes, there were others around metro Denver some prior to Bandimere some at the same time in the 60’s into the early 60’s. But Bandimere outlived them all until recently. Time will tell again.
 
I was wondering if that was the Chevy II from the AWD vs RWD no prep. I heard them talking about it, but didn't see any good pictures.
 
I saw this image, it appears to me to be a stock LS block with LSX heads on it, but not using the extra head bolt holes. Which is obviously not the part that failed... :rotfl:

It seems pretty obvious everything was going quite well except the block couldn't take it....

Looks to me like the PCV type system (probably catch cans). Didn't get gas vapors out and they ignited.
 
That was an April fools joke..?

Cause I wasn't kidding lol.
Enough pressure and fuel getting past the rings... What else would split a block there. :dunno:
