Allis-Chalmers tractor purchase. Now, The Old Tractor thread. Post yours.

I think the Minneapolis-Moline Orchard tractors were the coolest looking tractors ever built...I've seen one locally at cruise nights that is all restored...
The cab comes off to make a convertible out of it for summer too!..minneapolis-moline orchard tractor.jpg

I have a couple tractors at the moment.

1982 Yanmar 22 HP that we picked up to maintain the horse property.

1958ish Farmall 460 diesel that I am picked up from my dad when he sold his farm this spring. The 460 is the tractor I grew up using on the farm.

The UDLX! Yeah, that was a great 1960s tractor. The only problem is they tried to sell it in 1938, when there was no market for it. It cost almost 4 times as much as a 9N and 3 times as much as a Ford sedan. Great idea, but too far ahead of its time. Pretty much a summary of the whole company.

I love it but it is a grey market tractor that I have not tried to buy anything more than an oil filter for so far. I will re-evaluate when I need to do a major service and have to track down parts.

I know someone who has a Yanmar diesel like yours he inherited from his dad when he passed--he thought about selling it,but after a year of having it to use around the estate,he decided the offers he'd gotten for it weren't high enough..
I know he refused $6500 for it,it was in nice condition,4x4,and was kept in a barn from day one..
I think it sold for $15K+ new with the loader..

The year we had 8 feet of snow, one 2 footer after the other,he said he'd just assume keep it "forever"..it hasn't had that many hours put on it but it hasn't been babied either, his dad did haying and had horses,so it was not a barn queen...
The one thing he didn't like about it was he said it felt too light,it needed more weight to it..
The only issues he had with it I know of was the injector pump had to be cleaned after it sat a few years in the barn, the fuel had some water in it too...so the fuel tank had some rust, and a screen inside it was plugged up..once that was corrected it ran fine..
They make a good diesel..I like their smaller 1 lunger diesels too , but to own one here you have to be either well off to afford one new or be extremely lucky and scoff one off a dead generator, but then you have to deal with a weird tapered crank PTO..

WHERE did you find that collection? Lots of rare high dollar stuff. I've never even seen one of those UDLX tractors in person, and I've been to a lot of shows, and pulls.

Ok, here are my UDLX pictures. Homestead, Iowa, in June of 2006. They line up a few dozen M-M tractors on one end of town and a few dozen A-C tractors on the other end. Then the two parades drive past each other.

I don't think I've seen a real live UDLX since then. Pretty sure the Old Threshers Reunion isn't cool enough to get one of them. :(

It is part of a very large private collection (Keller Collection in WI). The collection is mostly John Deere and lowest serial number he can get. He has many serial number 1 tractors and experimental tractors.

Adjustable rear track width from the seat. 1 of 1 known to exist.

Those udlx tractors aren't rare, imo. it seems I can throw a rock and hit a few every summer. Between tractocades, fairs, pulls, and etc, etc.

You see more than one every summer? Tell me where. I want to see one again.

With a total of 125 made, they're more or less in the prototype category. I.E., there were 3000 Farmall H tractors for every UDLX made. And 2500 Farmall M tractors.
