Allis-Chalmers tractor purchase. Now, The Old Tractor thread. Post yours.

Get one of these on a die grinder and just polish up the first couple inches of the bore and I bet it goes together with some lube. We used to use them for removing carbon in cylinders on semis before pulling pistons.

I put the ram seals together and installed the head and the piston. Lock nut needs 450ft/p of torque. I looked for a torque wrench to do that. One time use. HF was the cheapest at $400. :yikes:

They also had this fo $90. PXL_20240407_235332796.jpg
Torque adapter is good for 150 to 700. Can set a desired number and you get beeps then a tone.

I could only get 150f/p on the 16" breaker bar. 8 foot cheater made it easy.

We didn't worry about the actual torque on those back in the 90's, especially in the field. Long cheater pipe and the weight of the mechanic. Usually red loctite on the threads. We were accustomed to using heat to pull it apart anyway, so why not in the future too!

Yep not like it needed to be torqued even in a pattern. Guttentite ist wunderbar
