Almost bought an XJ tonight.

Xjs are Cherocars. There meant to be used up and thrown away like garbage. No frame is a no go.

I'd get me a comanchee long before an xj.

I just watched someone twist the body up on one...off to the scrapper it goes lol.

I wouldn't buy one to wheel, that's pretty :sign9:

Have you looked at the "frame" section of a Comanche? It's pretty dorky, they grafted the front unibody section from a Cherokee into a sheet-metal frame section supporting the bed. It looks like something that a creative 9-year-old would do, mixing and matching parts without regard to longevity. Cheap and clever, but not really a frame, nor would I consider one a strong building point for an off road rig.

IMO the benefit of the Cherokees is that they are disposably cheap, you can run one as-is without endangering a $40,000 rig.

I like the XJ, I've done some pretty stupid stuff with a WJ, and I have the utmost respect for the 4.0.

But Unibody.

And Landcruiser's exist.

Actually found this for sale just down the road from me.

Meh last time I wheeled with one it broke 5 times on the trail lol. I guess that's the Itty bitty dana life.

Breaking axles on the trail has a lot to do with driver skill and the obstacles being attempted. A well-built XJ will beat the pants off of a crummy GM build any day of the week.

So does a G80 ten-bolt. Like I said, a well built Jeep will beat the pants off of just about anything that's poorly built. A lot has to do with the guy doing the modding and driving.

No shit? That's apples and oranges.

An ultra 4 will beat a semi truck in an off road race...uh yeah that's sort of obvious...not much going on there.

Im just saying there anemic in there stock form like everything else except there's no frame and an awesome chance to bend the unibody.

I believe there's better platforms to one ton and so on.
