I know a guy with an XJ that has 40's on a d30 front with a locker.



Doesn't break shafts.




Doesn't take the hard line either.





Yes d30's are weak.
Driver makes a huge difference.

We had a ZJ with 250xxx miles on it. Our son drove it for 2 more years and just sold it to another guy who is still driving it.
Like anything else, take halfway decent care of it and it will last. And the Jeep straight 6 is legendary in it's toughness.
