Went out to katemcy rocks a few weekends ago with some buddies and had a blast. Almost flopped the k5, it leaned over pretty hard on the rear bumper but the Diy4x stuff is so stout you cant even tell. Actually did it twice cause I couldnt get the steering to hold straight, really need to get the ram assist done. I thought it made for a good picture so I thought I would post it up. The first time was a little higher of the ground but wasnt able to get a picture. I have never seen my dad get out of a vehicle that fast either:D. The green yj on 40's is my roomates, pretty sweet rig too.

nah, yours is better, just because its a k5:D nevermind my username, i actually want to change it. looks like you had fun.

Did your Dad hop out when it was leaned over like that? If so, that is more dangerous than staying in the truck and hanging on for dear life. If the truck had gone over he could have ended up underneath it. Anyone that rides shotgun with me get's the option of 'spotting'...before I start an obstacle. There is no jumping out in the middle of an obstacle and I'm very clear on that. There is no shame in getting out if you're nervous, as long as you decide beforehand.

Anyways, looks fun!!

In the picture you are probably nowhere near flopping but I've been there and can appreciate the feeling ;)

Oh, and I agree with Rene on being on the downside of a vehicle like that.

Try again that's not near a flop.

I was close to flopping here.:D

I should have specified, he jumped out rather fast but it was after I backed down off the obstacle. I dont think he could have opened the door when it was leaning over like that if he wanted to because it was almost leaning on another rock. I give everyone that rides in the front the same little speech to, it still amazes how many people DONT want to wear the seat belt.

lol showoff....Probably right about not being near flopping, but with the hard top on it makes me that much more nervous. It was pretty cold and wet so we left it on.

The doubler worked pretty well. Some how the bolt holding the rear ouput shift linkage rattled out on the trailor ride down, so I never got to use 4:1 low (I was pretty bummed) but it was so wet that I probably wouldnt have used it anyways. Got on it pretty good coming up some rock faces, no problems and our "different" crossmember didnt let it move or bounce and inch so I was real happy with the results.

so true. My uncle broke his arm when he grabbed the top during a roll. I just clinged to the steering wheel as hard as i could when i flipped my K5

My cousin is missing half of each of his fingers cause of grabbing the roof in a roll over.

my friends brother's friend is missin 2 of his fingers and the other ones are really messed up cause he was in a jeep when it rolled and he grabed the roll cage. He was a carpenter so he couldnt work any more.

Id say the passenger goes for anything to grab to in a quick scare. So sit in their seat and see what you can get. Add to accomidate there needs. As a passenger I would appreciate a kind of handle built into some cages. As a Driver I would let all get out before attempting something I feel not sure about, they can get some nice pics.

I have replaced the headliner once because my wife puts her hand on the ceiling when we get a little tippy. I would like a different place for her to grab in these situations:wink1:

Has anyone mounted a handle similar to those on the passenger dash of a CJ? Pics please. Maybe I'll start a new thread and take the hijack off this one.

probably not the smartest thing still, but I am setting there with the brakes on posing for a picture, not doing anything. I put my hand out the window for the picture cause I was trying to get where the camera could see me. I dont understand why someone's initial reaction would be to take their hands off the steering wheel, I could see a passenger perhaps.

Handles on the roll cage are nice, but thats not the most comfortable place in my mind. It just seems too easy for something break through or pinch your hand. I would like to have some handles on the sides of my seats or maybe even on the dash.
