Almost

89 gmc jimmy. 350 tbi stock truck. I plan for this to be my off-road street legal crawler. I have been working at getting her running and road ready. It’s almost there every time I work on it, and when the wife calls I am almost done and headed home.
We think we got the engine issues solved by replacing the coil.

Now hopefully replacing that broken gear on the governor will solve the transmission issues.

Did you guys get it timed correctly again?

Still need to put the timing light on it and see where we are at. For now I just timed it by ear to get it running.

Last night I went ahead and ordered the one you linked on amazon. Nothing available local (although I didn't try a dealer). Should be here in a couple days.

if you find that the governor is bad (more than just the gear) that blazer at the junkyard had a 700r4 and may be worth pulling that part from.

Look how much has transpired, I need to update more bahaha. Governor gear didn’t do it, gonna play with the tv cable some more.

Could the governor be bad. Not just that gear? I just dont really think the TV would keep it from getting out of 1st

Everything I read said those are the two issues to look at. I also read that if the governor moves it is good. I definitely have movement idk if it is what its supposed to do though.

We tried a few more things over the weekend. Everything we are reading says that if it is staying strongly in gear without slipping it's either got to be the governor or the TV cable. We tried adjusting the cable a few more times just to make sure we were doing it right and we are fairly confident we are. We also pulled the governor again and confirmed that when the output shaft turns the governor is turning as well.

We are kinda at a loss so I called up @bigblock72 . He is fairly confident that the trans itself is good, given our symptoms, but we must be missing something. So this weekend we are going to drag it down to his shop so he can get a look at it.
