Alright guys...need some info about the 14\' whip antenna

Can I go under underpasses? How many watts can they take? How much are they? I know you can get them at radio shack, but we don't have on around here, so where else can i get one?

you can go under an overpass if you are going fast the antenna will bend down out of the way and if you are going slow the spring will let it bend you can put as meney watts thru it as you want around here a 12'er cost about 20$ I dont know about a 14'er as for where to get one look at a truck stop they sometimes seal cb stuff or do a search on the net or try www.coaxkid.com

best ant. for a CB (11 meter) is the 1/4 wave whip which is 104 inches long. (1/4 of 11 meters= 2.75 meters = 107 inches the whip is 104, the spring is about 3 1/2 inches). The 14 foot would be to long and a real pain to get tuned right 1/4 or 1/2 or full wave are the best, getting a full wave on a blazer whould be a bit much(its about 36 feet long) A 1/4 wave whip can take about all the power you can feed it with if its metal. the shorter fiberglass whips realy have a wire in them wraped around the wand that's about 104 inches long. In most cases the wire is very lite and will burn up with much power at all.

I understand the jeep thing I drive a BLAZER!!

you can buy those body mounts for antennae's at cb shops, maybe radio shack, probably truck stops. My hubby runs a 9ft. whip off the passenger side rear body panel....unfortunately his does not have a spring. Springed ones would be better....just watch yourself in the woods.....he's only clipped it off once on a tree, cut a corner a little sharper on the way back through....the dumb tree just tapped that mount just hard enough to pop the screws out....mmm...oh well, redrilled them right in front of those!
