So I realized that driving for an hour with headlights, aux lights, stereo blaring, windsheild wipers, and the defogger going over draws my electrical and my battery was near dead when I went to start the truck the next day. So I am rewiring my entire truck anyways, but I have no idea what alternator to buy to upgrade to. Also warenty is important because with the offroading I do I'd like to just bring it to a local store and no have to ship it back summit racing or something. Any ideas for my options?

CS144 140amps from any LT1 powered car ( caprice, buick, caddy,f-body or vette )
and you can have repair parts everywhere

I have not compared the cost of the 144's to the 130's, but the CS130 is an option as well, albeit theoretically not as "tough" as the 144's, and not as much output. 105amps I believe is the norm for the 130.

On the plus side, they were installed on our trucks towards the end, so brackets should be out there.

I've installed CS144 on V-belt setups and semi-serp setups with no modifications at all
except that I had to bend the upper bracket upward a little bit

94 Pontiac Transport, 3.8l w/ rear A/C.

I`ve yet to run the truck , and still need to put the v belt pulley on it, but thats what I`m running.

Yeah, search for *any* alternator post by me or RootBreaker and you'll find lengthy threads on this very topic.

Does anyone have a part number they have successfully used...N.A.P.A. has several 140 amp alts for the LT1 engine. It looks like the difference is case design and mounting bolt pattern.

Application: 1994 Pontiac Transport with V6 and rear air. Dropped onto my 1974 350 as bolt-in (well, I think the alternator bolts are metric) and the wiring .... god, how many times do I have to cover this? =))

Are the cases "clockable" on the 144 as they are the 130? Not that it matters, the exact application that fits is known, just curious.

Yes, because I clocked mine. Need info to run double V-belts on the alt. because at full load one starts to smoke just above idle . Part #s would be great

i have a dubble pulley . i will see if i can find it for ya. its from some old school gm alts off firetrucks back in the day.

more than one serpentine belt. Probably in the same configuration as v-belt but serpentine.

dubble pulley for vbelt stuff.

i would skip the semi serp stuff. and grab full serp from 95-back with aluminum brackets. and then 96-up vortec c/k truck option alt 125 amp size. thats a cs-144 case alt also.

Was at the JY today, and lot of Caddys and some other cars had doble V belt. Any rule of thumb about alts that have doubles factory, are they high amp?
