Am I the only one on this board that hates 2wd Blazers?

Do you dislike 2 wheel drive Blazers?

I figured everyone disliked them, but apparently I am wrong. I always thought Ford did it right, by never offering a 2wd Bronco.

I don't hate them, but never saw the point. Kinda like todays SUV market with weak 4x4 systems and independant susp at all 4 corners. A truck should be a truck and that's that in my pinion.

I did own a 1975 2wd Blazer--funny thing was,it had the "K5" badges on it factory!--should have been a "C5" ,shouldn't it??..it had a 250 "camel humper" integral head straight six with a 3 speed when I first got it,but I soon swapped in a Saginaw 4 speed from a chevy Vega I scrapped, that had a nice low first gear--it would leap off the line very quickly..

I also swapped in a 1971 307 V8 I had from a K10 Suburban that I parted out due to extensive body rot--it was a good "summer" truck, but I was hating it all winter long,I bought a '71 K5 to drive during the winter and eventuall sold it..one thing I liked was the smoother ride it had,but I'd rather have a 4x4 Blazer anyday..they are good for the "lowrider" crowd, and for looks, thats about it IMO--..

Yeah, the wife has an '02 Explorer "station wagon" IFS/IRS rides nice, but don't get why it has a class 3 hitch on the back:rolleyes:.

They make bad ass lowered trucks. My friend had one years ago slammed on 17"s before anyone else was running 17"s. Was a bitchen looking truck. All white 81' with polished Budnik 5 spoke wheels. Glass tinted black limo. Don't be a hater, It's still a good ols Chevy K5 :) Now Low rider one's I HATE, with the 13" 100 spoke wheels and hydraulics :doah:.

I worked for ford for several years and could never understand why they had a class 3 hitch out of the factory  but oh well i guess. And yes i too hate low riders they look funny and those wheels are just plain stupid. Oh well to each their own i guess,

K5's rule  enough said lol

I'm with you on this one...love a nice lowered hotrod/muscle rig with 17's or bigger...don't care for anything with little 13's sticking out into the roadway like training wheels...looks gay.

Am I the only one that saw the Monster Garage where they turned a 2wd blazer into a Pikes Peak Hillclimber. That thing was awesome.

I would love to have a lowered 2wd Blazer to hit the streets with and use a parts chaser. Even more fun would be one in Pro Street trim.

I like the 2wd Blazers lowered a little with 17s and haulass goodies, but I always liked them set up for desert racing better.:D How can you hate on 2wd Blazers w/o hating on 2wd p/u and burbs as well?:doah:

Agreed 100%, once my 86 is done I would love to build a turbo'd LS powered 2 wheeler, total sleeper truck, lowered a bit with some decent sized wheels

x2 with a nasty big block and 6 speed.
But why? Cant be for speed since you probably picked one of the heaviest platforms to start with. It can't be for looks since it's got the shape of a basic brick.

Only thing an old blazer is good for is mashing in 4x4 mode JMO. And as cheap as you can pick up parts for it doesn't hurt as much when something breaks.

I would like one for cruising around in. It would have to be a full vert with rag top. Think of the fun you would have.

My dream garage.

2x4 Blazer full vert

4x4 Blazer Factory condition with bumper, axle, rag top and winch upgrades

CUCV M1009 Factory condition

Blazer Chalet Factory condition

There not any heavier than a 2-wheel drive pickup, probably lighter when you pull the top off.

I think a 2-wheel drive full vert would be sick........ but I'd need two one as a go fast pavement ride and one as a prerunner

Yep long travel prerunner, but I wouldnt mind a pro street 2wd with fat tires in the back and have it tilted forward like a gasser.

Who said I liked 2wd pickups or Burbans? They are more acceptable than a 2wd K5 though. A K5 is meant to be a off road vehicle, similar to a Jeep. I have never understood why they made them available with 2wd.

I don't mind lowriders, but I do dislike 2wd K5's.

They were ranch trucks made to compete with the IH and Ford. Came no top and only one seat to begin with. Some places didn't need 4x4 to run hay or repair wire for fences.
