Am I the only one on this board that hates 2wd Blazers?

Do you dislike 2 wheel drive Blazers?

I came real close to buying a long bed stepside 3/4t in 85.....til I realized how ugly is was...

See to me it is a reminder of those times and that is why I like them. When work trucks WERE work trucks!

See I only like the 73-87 Stepsides all other years make me gag lol but I'm biased

Am I the only one that saw the Monster Garage where they turned a 2wd blazer into a Pikes Peak Hillclimber. That thing was awesome.

Linky

Apparently it was originally a 4x4 Jimmy before they hacked a F*rd 2wd front end onto it.:o Still pretty awesome.

Where's the nekkid option?

i think a 2wd lowered a little with a turbo'd LS motor and t56 with drag radials would be awesome, and it would nice sitting along side my lifted k5. i always wanted a lifted k5 and a semi-lowered k5 street machine that's pristine.

something similar to what ive attached possibly. personally i think a K5 is one of the best looking trucks for being essentially a square, especially with a '91 GMC clip. escalade seats would be sweet too

They were ranch trucks made to compete with the IH and Ford. Came no top and only one seat to begin with. Some places didn't need 4x4 to run hay or repair wire for fences.

I've hauled a lot of hay, and fixed miles and miles of fence. A 2wd drive truck has never made sense to me, and I don't see them often around here on farms. The few I do see, generally belong to people in town.

I did know a guy that had a sweet '72 2wd tricked out. Wish I could find a pic.

That's far from the true around here in Alberta you'll easily find a lot of farm or ranch trucks that are 2wd simply because they were the right price at the time or hand me downs. Heck I can recall a few 2wds we had on the farm a 85 2wd suburban that was used daily on the farm, and a 79 f250 460 2wd that also sent most of its time on our property. Always fun wheeling a 2wd growing up knowing that if you get stuck its a fair walk to the tractor :haha:

I don't see the point in 2WD anything... my dream is to convert a 67 camaro over to 4X4 and give it some leafs, beffy tires, yet still keep it clean.

please dont, camaro's are supposed to be sports cars not suv's, especially classic ones like a '67

I saw one a few years back at a snow run, it was a 69 RS and it actually did pretty well. And we all have our own ideas on what is what...

The trar went out with the mullet. Buy an el camino if you want to do that. I guess now that they build new camaro bodies...anything goes. Post pics of the build.

Ive always thought a 2wd blazer would be a fun weekend, street strip ride. Would be way different and I bet you could suprise alot of people with one. Theres already alot of room for slicks.

have a friend with a fully restored 72 2wd, only thing not origianl are the 20's. looks preety nice, and there real rare another reason i like them.

I want one!

I have a 98 malibu as a daily driver. I want to find a 2 wd frame put my 89 body on it with the top from my 73 on bags with a hot rodded 6.5 td. Fun cool and I bet I could pull 25 mpg out of it

That would be a cool daily driver

I'd love to have a 72, body and interior smoothed out a little but mostly stock, slammed, with somewhere between 17-20" rims (not too small but not too large either), with a built small block, built 4L60e, and 9" rearend as a cruisin mobile! Or... a 91 converted to full 'vert with the same mods! Or... the 91 as a built to the hilt prerunner! Hmm, so many cool options!

On a side note, I LOVE the stepside longbeds! My favorite is one I used to see in my neighborhood when I was a kid, a 68 4x4 3/4 ton, man I wish I had that truck! I saw that one everyday so, I never knew they were rare, I just knew I loved that truck! Probably coulda gotten it pretty cheap too, it never moved, just sat in the same spot in the neighbors driveway, one flat front tire, and a load of firewood in the back. No rust (lived in NV at the time) and the perfect patina of many years of use and a few different paintjobs (could just see the old paint peeking out in a few wear spots). I still remember how good that truck looked (it's been 12 years since I last saw it)!

Ooooo Ahhhhh

I'm all for it. I see no reason not to offer stuff in 2wd. Most people really don't need 4wd, they just need a people/junk transporter so why have 4wd if it's just more stuff to wear out and makes the truck weigh more...
