Who prefers the 81-88 nose to the 89-91? I was glad to find an 88 to get the last year before the change. To me the new nose just looks like a bit of an afterthought to make them look more like the newer trucks. Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of really nice looking trucks of those years, I just think the older nose looks more natural on them. Anyone else?

I personally like the 89-91 nose, but I have the 88 style nose on my Suburban and it's growing on me. I was thinking of swapping on a 89-91 nose, but the more I think about it, the more I'm just going to leave it alone.

Besides, if I were to swap noses, I'd have to put a 73-79 nose on old Fillmore. I have a soft spot for the round headlights and flat hoods too.

I like the 73-79 nose the best, the ones with the round headlight not the square, my second choice is 89-91, and I also do like the 84-88 stacked headlight nose.
I DO NOT like the 80, or the single square headlight from the 80's

I don't mind the grilles. I do love the '81-'91 hood/fenders with the taper-down of the hood to the front.

I think these years look better than the '73-'80 hood/fenders. The older ones look too "boxy."

I like the 81-88 nose the best. Mine is an 86, which is my favorite front end. Stacked headlights with the parking lights in the grill. To me, the newer 89-91 noses look too much like 90's yukons and tahoes. (probably since that's where they originiated from) I would have just bought a late 90's tahoe instead of buying an 89 K5 if I wanted that front end. Thats just my opinion though. I might be partial to my style since my dad had one when I was younger.

mine is an '88, i swapped to the '89-'91 grill. i like both of them, the main reason i did the swap was because i acquired all the parts for next to nothing, and the 'newer clip looks more "modern" which i liked.

I could definitely use that front grille and lights if you were ever in KY... haha. My grille has a few busted places that makes it look like a chipped tooth.

Did those lights up top come factory or did you put those on yourself?

I have a 84 that came with the newer 89-91 nose installed by PO. Looks ok, but I prefer the older look... especially the mid/late 70's. Round headlights = real mans truck. This is what I have always been told!

the cab lights were on the truck when i got them. judging by the previous owner, i'd assume they were factory. when i went to replace them, all the holes were perfect circles and no flaws and the holes were painted so had to be a factory job, or it was done at a shop.

When I first got my truck it had the wrong grill in it and it was broken and flopping around.

I just happened to have a GMC parts truck out back with the proper grill.

Really, I don't care which style it has (stacked or side by side lights) just as long as it has something. I do prefer the look of the 89-91 but I wouldn't go through the BS to swap it over.

That is may favorite grille design after the 75-78 round headlight front design, which is by far my favorite of all chevy trucks ever. I will probably convert all my post 1980 trucks to the 75-78 style if I can. I dont really like how on the 79s the headlight bezel surrounds the turn signal, however I dont mind it either.

I prefer the stacked style over the newer. My only problem is the headlight bezel gets warped near the bottom over time. I wish GM would have made them out something better than plastic.

Notice the dent in the hood and matching one in the bumper and everything in between. It was all tweaked. The other side still looks good.

I like the dual headlights, either stacked or side by side.... just cuz it seems i always have a headlight that fails for the regular beam, but the high beam still works, and i hate throwing away a bulb that still kinda works......

anyone ever thought of wiring a bunch of old headlights with working high beam filaments up as KC lights???? :D

The 83,84 that has the trim between the headlights doesn't seem to warp like the others

That's a good lookin truck. I like the one color look. Thinking of making mine one color just haven't decided what or if I should even bother.

Yeah I saw that.

My 86' doesn't have any sheet metal damage in that area but the bezel is warped with a 1/2" gap in the spot I circled. All the junkyard trucks seem to have the same gap. That spot on the bezel gets more sun I guess.

Me 2.

My '82 had the 4 light grill, with turn signals in the bumper. I actually like it best.

NOT MY TRUCK, quick Google search...
