Am I the only one...

This might be weird but I like the 89-91 best but a very close second is 81-83(?) single headlight GMC grille. I really like those

I actually like the 73-75 best but that has nothing to do with this post

I agree about the 73-75...

i like the 89-91 like i said. but if i had the parts i think it might look sweet with a 81-82 only bumper with turn signals in bumper .

'81-'88, and '89-'91 is kind of an odd way to split them up.

A better way to split them up would be as follows:

'81-'82
'83-'84
'85-'88
'89-'91

Also, not all 1980's got the square headlight, only the upper trim levels did (Silverado), so a lot of them look just like a '79.

I prefer '89-'91 > '85-'88 > '81-'82 > '73-'78 (I understand there are quite a few differences in the grilles of these year) > '83-'84 > '79-'80.

I agree with the way you split them up. Thats always been the way I've done it.

Agreed on the breakdown, I just lumped the 81-88 together because the are pretty similar with minor differences.

That being said, I DO really like the 89-91 base model grille. Hard to beat the older quad headlight model though, I swear angels start singing when I turn on my high beams :p

Well hell, as long as were talking clips, Id like to graft this on

I feel like such an outcast. I don't like the 89-91 side by side headlight setup at all. Never have. I don't have anything against the pre-81 round headlights, but when I wanted a Blazer there was only one year, 1980! No other year can claim that grill, and it is a rare setup with only a single production year. Of course that is just me, but I like it.

lights on

My 79'- 89' frank'N'Blazer had the 84' stacked lights with clear bulbs for the turn signals and the best part was when you turned on the High Beams because all Six forward lights were on. If only I had that bumper with the turn signal cut outs and some flood lights installed and the turn/running lights were wired so the lights were always bright and dimmed when the turn signal was on instead of the other way around like stock... cue Angels. Wouldn't look like much... Until the lights came On. Now, that is the Look.

those 80' only square lamps just kinda grow on you after a while.

my opinion
1- 73-75
2- 76-79
3- 89-91
4- 80
5- all the others- cant stand the :weapon5:81-82:sign9:

Ten years ago the 89-91 quad headlight thing was the HOT swap. Guys on here were doing it to their trail rigs. Never quite figured out why.

I have a '89 and I like the setup but eh, it was what was on the truck. I wouldn't go through a lot of trouble to change anything unless it got smashed and I had easy access to a whole parts donor with a different setup.

I do like the round headlights. Lot more work to swap over for those of us from the 80's.

For ultimate rare-ness I like the 89-91 single headlight setups. I've only ever seen a few in person since most people loaded up their K5's during this time period.

I have to admit, I like the look of the 89-91 single rectangular headlights. Rene's is that way and it does look nicer.

I had the 80, it was OK, didn't hate it or love it.
Now I have a 91 with the quad, and I have an 89 with the single.
Keeping the 91, the 89 is being parted for now.
I also have an 88 front with the stacked quads, and had a burb with the same setup.
I can say that I always keep what I have, no swappng necessary.
I also have a 77 with the round headlight, and if I could have the sloping hood with better visibility and retain that front look I would do it.
The hood on the 84 with single headlight was the only thing that kept me from tossing the truck.
I just realized appart from the 84 that I traded for a commuter car, I have every phase since the 70's I even have a 70. :D
70, 77, 80, 85, 88, 89, 91.
I guess I shouldn't sell any now, I have the perfect number 7
