Hey Jess, looks like fun, sweet stuff isn't it?

Looks like your ready for more progress, I can't wait to see the outcome!

I like Kerts stuff, the only thing I did with the bushing kits was to pop out the press in zerk (I hate those, they pop out too often), and tapped the hole 1/4-28 and put in some thread in zerks (I had to drill it a tiny bit larger first for the fine thread).

Worked on it yesterday all I got done was the other side fishplate, and burned out the old rubber bushings in the 64's. I was going to start fabing the shackle flip but I am going to wait and get the 52's up front first to see how much lift that gets me so I can attempt to match it. Also you can see the difference between 52's and 64s and the roads around here are still solid ice :(

Those fishplates are beefcake! They make the frame look tiny.

and those 64s are LOOOOOOOOOONG...I bet those travel nice.

Keep it between the ditches...

Ditto on that....looks like armor plating on there Jess!
The 64's gotta be the Gold!

Yah I wanted to go 1/4" or less but they had this 3/8 in a pull for way cheaper so I just rolled with it :)

Worked my ass off today, but it didn't seem like it.

1st pulled the 52's from the blazer. This ended up being a task and a half. The tires were flat and frozen to the ground. Luckly mother nature blessed me with wonderful 30 degrees and snow. So after 30 min I realized almost everything was rusted or frozen so I decided to break out the torch and get to work. Another 30 min or so the axle was at freed and along with it the springs.

Now since my poly bushings will not be here till wednesday I had to do my best to salvage the bushings so I could use them during mock up. I spent atleast 2-3 hrs along with 2 cans of PB blaster and a 5lb sledge to free the bushings from the bolts.

Once I had both 52 leafs free of the shackles/ brackets it was time to drop the axle and remove the 2.5" hd lift springs. And big surprise the bolts were seized as well. Another hr of hamer and impact work, and the leafs were out of there. Then i started removing rivits. Did I mention how much I hate removing rivits!!:mad:

I figured grinding would be the easiest but the rivits ended up being fused to the shackle hanger. After running to the hardware to get the correct size drill. I drilled out all the rivets in shackle hanger in my trusty 50 year old craftsman drill press.

Then I finally got to moving the shackle hanger and mocking everything up. Below you can see the shackle angle its almost at full drop. The axle is not attached so I should be good once I hook that up.

I called it a night after tacking in the front hanger, having incredibly sore knees and right arm from whacking away with 5lb sledge.

Should be able to finish tomorrow or monday.

Also I made a jack stand from spare rims

I have had more than one day like yours. At least you ended up making progress. How are your front shocks mounted? Do you have custom towers? I can't tell from the picture.

The cast f250 towers. I will be doing an engine cage with tube, so I will take em off and make em as straight as possible.

Even slower than expected progress is still progress Jess, and it happens more than one would like. You are gettin it done though. It'll be interesting to see those long @$$ leaf springs work!

Yeah sometimes the truck fights back and slows you down. Other times I just look at stuff and start thinking how to do something, next thing I know I'm working on something I didn't even think about and the clock says its time to go to work..:dunno:

I know I just gotta keep getting out to the shop and eventually things start getting done.

Keep at it when you can Jess.:waytogo:

Got some more done today. I'm done drilling out rivits, well atleast in the front. Should be buttoning up the front this weekend.

So I finished up cutting and grinding supports for the front hangers

Then I welded in the front hangers and supports

bolted up the 52's last pic is at full drop. Looks like my shackle angle is going to be almost perfect :)

Nice Jess, got a side shot of the new setup in front. Looks like the shackles are hanging straight down right? With weight on them it should ride good!

That's some nice progress! It should flex awesome.

Yah dave they are almost perpendicular to the frame at full droop. It should be close to 45 degrees at ride height. I jacked it up to see ride height but since I do not have an engine in it right now its not quite where I would like to see it. Once I get the motor back in and add some tube and my winch It should be good. I think I may fab up the rear top shackle bushing to use a standard 1.5" poly bushing, or I may just buy something from kurt. At this point I am leaning more towards buying from kurt because of the time to fab something up like that. I would rather have the 2 hrs to complete something else on the rig. I have finished the design on my rear hanger yesterday as well. Once I get back to the office today I may scan it and through it up on here for you guys to critique . Pretty simple, functional and strong though.

Tha all sounds real good Jess, I'm kinda wondering where my shackle angle will fall, although probably not ideal, I will use it like it is, as I may change to a different setup in the future (maybe coilovers???)
I think Kert is swamped right now, but off the shelf stuff he might have ready to go. I'm working with him on a Gauntlet rear bumper kinda customized for my taste, and he said he's pretty busy, and also looking for new help too, so training is probably slowing him up too. A good problem to have though.
Are you close to your truck, or can you only get to it on the weekends?

Truck is at my dads place(20 mins away) My g/f has rotating night shift so I have been wrenching when she works( some nights and weekends) and spending time with her when she isn't.

glad its close by, I was thinking you were an hour away for some reason.
