i got my hands on a car today, 68 impala fastback. with a freshly built 350. th400.

but i cant get the darn dash lights, or any of the switches working! (wipers, dome light, blinkers cigarette lighter)

Nice car. I had a 67. Everything on the switches gets
Power through the ignition switch after it comes from firewall. Mine did that too and I replaced the ignition switch And it was good. Check
The firewall junction block and tw connector to the ignition.

ill take some more pics!. There is only a little rust, on the rear driverside wheel well. it needs interior work, and new rubbers. AND I NEED SOME DAMN GEARS! I want some 4:10s in this thing. also. Its a TH400, the kickdown isnt working either. I Researched, and I guess its activated by an electrical switch. but i dont see one .

It had the vin matching 327. but was pulled and put a built 350 bored one over. so. 355?

also has the centerbolt valve covers, so are those newer heads or what could they be

okay, well I got the dome light on, It's a bad connection at the bulb. The dash lights, half of the dash lit up for a second, Nowhere near the speedo, though. My headlight switch is bad. And I cant figure out how to wire up the th400 kickdown, There is no switch on my gaspedal or anything.

and... now I drove 3 cities over on the freeway, going 60-70mph. I looked at my Temp gauge, and it was reading 210!!
wtf. I get off the Exit, and my temp starts dropping.. it has a fixed fan.

Center bolt vc was on vortecs I believe.

Yes they were, but they were also on everything after 1986.

Those are not Vortec heads, you can tell by the intake bolt pattern.

Different wheels would really help that thing.

Yeah I knew they were newer style heads. I had stock 68 nova rims on mine. The almost snowflake lookin ones. Cragars would look nice on there. The po on mine had 100 spoke lowrider rims on 50 series tires when I bought mine. Lol. I told him to keep those and find something else to throw on there. Save me 500 bucks on the price of the car.

I'm probably going to ride with the uglies on it for a while. who knows. i might get rid of it and get a 67-72 k5.

but, the motor was pinging under load, I turned the Dizzy, clockwise just a tad.
That retards it, IIRC. right?

nice!!! +1 on the rims needing to be replaced. sell those for a pretty penny and get some nice crags and then take a lady out on a nice date with the rest. hehe

so i have a question, the rearend is a 12bolt. I was wondering how many different size pinions are there for 12bolts? I want to get some gears. but dont know..
