another drive shaft question. rear k5.

oh i know what it takes to build them . seen a lot of mine built first hand here localy there a big truck shop and use all spicer parts if possible .

my neighboor is a engineer in a workshop that has the right tools for all elements except balancing so he suggest the same thing as you guys.

see if i can find anything.

dont know wich modell it is but the whole car is green. even the steel under the interiorboards .
ive bought new bodyparts for it since the original is rusty and messed up. havent changed it yet though .

heres one pic for you. on the crimescen. had to tow it the last 200 meters (dont understand yards system) Home.

WOW :yikes: those were great tires back in the day . they quit makeing them almost 15 years ago . so watch your self on the condition of them .

I worked at Driveline Service of San Jose for 3 years.
Building driveshafts requires special equipment.
Collets, a press, a spin balancing machine.
Let me re-phrase; building driveshafts that don't shake, requires special equipment.
In your situation; Sweden, as you say; no access to parts.
You are MUCH better off ordering a new shaft since shipping cost is already going to rival the cost of the shaft itself.

Looks like an M1009 you have?
I see CARC green paint.
I have a stock trail spare driveshaft from my M1009.
You might be able to find one closer than you think.
Do they have wrecking yards in Sweden?

yes we have wrecking yards and a database that all of them are connected to with offer a list of every wrecked vehciel with all the parts. and chevy blazer in Sweden is like looking for wrecked volvo 240 in the us. sadly people dont understand the beuty of big fuel drinking cars in Sweden.

Looks like an 84.
Hard to see in picture.
4 headlights?i
The chrome bumper rules out CUCV unless it was swapped.
Stock height.
Hey, I have a stock driveshaft for it here.
Spicer u-joints.

The rear u-joint is currently a 3R to 1330 conversion (really just the caps are swapped).
Yes, 1330.. it is a long story.

But you really only need the tube.
I wonder what shipping from 82431 Wyoming to Sweden would be?
I'd be willing to send you the whole thing or just the tube.
You'll need a 3R rear u-joint.

Anyhow, if you'll cover shipping, I can send it to you.
I don't want anything extra, just shipping.

The u-joint you need is a Spicer 5-795X.
That is a GM 3R inside clip u-joint.
I have to haul the garbage trailer off the mountain on Monday.
I could mail it then.

I have no idea what shipping would be.

That is why I think you'd be best off doing it once and doing it right.
That end yoke on your shaft is trashed.
It will spit u-joints out forever.
Have a new shaft made and balanced.
It will be pricey but you'll never have to worry about it again.. at least for a long time.

I will send the used driveshaft i have if you want.
But you'll still have to swap the rear joint.
And it is factory tube.
The new stuff is much better.

do you know if there is another modell that has the same end yoke? van, trail blazer or something?

The end yoke is avaliable.
Either new or salvage.
But replacing it requires spin balancing.
You really are best to have a new shaft made and shipped.
Contact any online driveshaft manufacturer.
I recommend Tom Woods Driveshaft.

You will get a precision shaft, free from vibration, greaseable u-joints, and excellant customer service.

How is the pinion yoke on the rear differential?
How about the slip yoke side?

You know, those slip yokes get sloppy on the transfer case splines.

I am willing to ship you my trail spare.
But as i said; you'll still need a 5-795x u-joint for the rear since i have a conversion joint.
Although, you can simply swap the caps.

But, i highly recommend you bite the bullet and have a new shaft made.
You won't regret it.
If you plan on keeping the Blazer for a while, it is cheap insurance to have strong driveshafts.
They are the most over looked part of most 4x4's..
That is until they break.

Anyhow, i have to take guests down the mountain at 5am MST tomorrow.
After that, my next day in town will not be for several weeks.
Not much time off living in paradise while snow is on the ground.
