Another first gen Canback top!!!?

Canback

Seems like all the pcs. are falling into place, I'll start working on the bows, Do you mind if we build a bimini first since the full top is more difficult. BTW my sides over the door window was just a dbl. flap that the window went up into, seemed to work pretty well as I recall. Later J.

We may be on to something, the front sounds like a done deal. Any thoughts for the back, or should we finish the front first??? :bow: Later J.

WE need someone to psot up some detailed pics of the canback tops, best top, the snap top, and any other soft top that they seen on a k5 or k10

A couple years ago I ran into an ulpolstery shop in mexicali(just across the border from me). The guy dedicates his time to redo/build custom convertible tops for cars. At that time he was asking 450 us dollares to sew up a top with material(no bows). the material was kinda tough, as those used on convertibles. His quality was pretty good, I saw a few samples and really liked his job. I had part of my top sewed up and patched, still holding up good. I could try and trackem down again and ask him if he would be interesed in high volume. I am also interested in a good top.

let me know,

ARQ.

once the templates are made, it will be rather quick to cut and sew the material, its actually making the temps that takes the most time, what kind of potions are people looking for? slant back, straight back, roll up sides, removable sides, completely removable, and foldable onto the back like the jeeps?

I think I prefer the straight back with removable sides. A fasttrack attachment point at the front like on the bikini tops that Tonyp and I helped get available would be a plus.

Can you submit any pics ,I was looking for different ways to attach the top to the windshield and bows??? Later J.

Here is the prototype on Tonyp's Blazer using the fasttrac type attachment on the windshield.

This is such a clean way to do the front of the top, but I would guess Specialty Top Company probably has the fasttrack mounting system protected by a patent or something.

The aluminum strip is screwed on and a plastic lip on the top slips into the aluminum strip. Tonyp is a member but I don't know how often he is around these days.

I'm pretty sure I know what he's saying, sounds like you understand. If you have seen other applications, it doesn't sound like it is a patented item!!! Later J.

Canback

Just got done speaking with Spec. Top,:bow: he said He will sell me the Fasttrac system to mount the top to the windshield, so that only leaves the bows to build. What do you think?????? Later J.

I just installed a Fast Track top this week. I actually won it in a raffel at BlazerFest last July..it has been sitin in my garage for a long time.
Anyway the top is cool and the design is cool but it fits kinda loose for my liking. I think I can get it to fit tighter by moving the rear bow higher.
My wife has the camera so I can't get you any pics right away...but I do plan on getting some when she gets back..so tell me what you wana see and I'll snapit :D
