I have already searched for it but can't find it I have a 84/85 k5 84 drivetrain and 85 cab and nose. the id tag only say's 1GQ1 standard gear. Does anybody know what it is
Thanks

My GM code book says this-

GQ1- Axle, Standard Ratio

I have no idea what this means, though. I'm guessing it means that your Blazer got the standard gearing(whatever that was

) the rear the truck was produced.......

Theres another code like that but for transissions. MXO and MX1 refer to the syle of transmission(3 speed or OD) but gives no info regarding the actual tranny.......

pull the covers off, do a little maintenance and check the edge of the ring gear. The ratio should be stamped on the edge.

I didn't want to cuz I am just "LOOKING" for new axles and gears. had to repace every seal last year in the rear and didn't bother to count them. Almost done with my resoration of the truck and a 2 1/2" lift.

Standard ratio in 84 was 2.73:1 according to my book
"Standard Catalog of 4x4's"

Funny, this came up just last week
