Another muffler poll

OK guys, most of you have all kinds of performance mufflers so ya'll can prob advise what I need. I'm looking for the deepest sounding, quietest (at idle) muffler I can get for around 50 bucks. Putting true duals on next weekend so need to get some ordered! Thanks.

I run 40 series Flowmasters. IMO, they are not too loud they have a nice rumble at idle and really start to sound off at higher RPM's.

Ditto on the 40 series. Have Hedman headers into Catco cats into 40 series Flowmasters.............true 2.5" duals all the way and it sounds great. Not too loud. Maybe because I have cats? Not sure but I love the sound.

I will be running headers and no cats also. I was thinking Flowmaster (50's) but they are a little out of my budget....

i got true duals, 3 inch no cats.
midas 3 chamber mufflers. 35 dollars each. run just as good as my buddies 40 series. sound a bit louder at high rpms though

1974 Chevy Blazer Cheyanne. lots of plans for it....
but it is on 33's now, with saggy old springs. i am in so cali if ya got any parts for me.

I'm not sure if you guys have this brand in the US, but I recently installed a pair of Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers on the 84(stock exhaust manifold, no cats, 2 1/4" pipes). They're really subtle at idle and sound great when you tromp on the gas- deep and throaty, not barky or cackly...........

They cost about $80CDN a piece, which means after the exchange rate they'll probably only cost you around $1.99USD..............

I got true dual w/ hooker super comp headers, flow master 40 series and if I roll my windows up and drive 30 minutes on the interstate it gives me a headache. I will be changing out my mufflers to Gibsons ultra flo's as soon as they aririve from summit.

it you want quiet so with the 50 series flow master, or even dynomax (some of these may be in your budget).

has anyone tried the summit mufflers, i was just reading about them and they seemed kinda nice and are really cheap.

I was just looking into my summit racing catalog, and they have the dynomax mufflers for 31 bucks. they also have thrush for 53 bucks... maybe you could try these???

I strongly considered the dynomax when I was changing out my mufflers. for quiet and performance it came down the the gibsons or flow master 70 series (the gibson were a total of $40 cheaper so that won out). otherwise I would have used the dynomax. the gibsons were 80 dollars a piece.

for 31 dollars I'd wager your not going to be the dynomax.

I got Dynomax headers, Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers, 2 1/2 in. dual exhaust. I recommend an H-pipe. It lowered the interior resonance big time, hence relaxing my ears.

I've been checking into this, and I'm getting ready to have a 'Ravin' muffler installed on my rig. Midas carrys them, and they show to have more flow than the Flowmaster. My bud has one on his Dakota and it sounds sweet! - Gary

What are true duals ?

True duals means that you have 2 cats and 2 mufflers and 2 exits rather than 1 cat and 1 muffler and 2 exits. You can create the appearance of a dual exhaust by using one dual outlet muffler. You can't really tell if someone has true duals unless you look under the truck. Know what I mean?

I was kinda looking at the Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers, like K5Buckeye. What's the volume like through the RPM range?

go with the summit fully welded mufflers. They are $40 a piece, $20 less than 40 series flowmasters. They are both the same two chamber design with a fully welded case. You probably would not notice any difference between the two.
