So we just bought a new house that has a huge 50'x80' shop.

(More pics in my build thread)

But anyway they threw in the forklift that he was using and all of the pallet rack and shelves which will be awesome for storage.

Anyone have any idea on a model number or approximate year? I didn't get any great pics. I looked for a ID plaque but could not find one. I am guessing it is a lighter forklift (2500-3500 lbs)but it would be nice to get some more info on it. It is propane and it looks like it was gas originally and converted to propane. It is supposedly fully operational and does not appear to be leaking anything. Battery was dead and it was like 13 degrees in the building so hopefully I can check it out in more depth the next time I get over there.

Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.

Not sure on the exact year of yours, but one company I worked for I got tapped to come help pick up a used forklift. The caveat of course was if it turned out to be a POS it'd be my fault. I picked the exact clone to what you have there. Lift rate was 5000 lbs. There will be a rate tag on the dash showing max loads, and distance from the mast.

Conventional OHV 4 cyl on propane. No conversion, they're built that way from day one. Ours had about 3500 hrs on it when we got it, and with minimal maintenance it still ran and worked like a champ 4 years later when I left. Had north of 5000 hrs on it then. I recall the only real money we spent was on replacement tires. Easy to spin on the smooth concrete, and nobody was easy on it...

Seeing as it'd only be yourself, and not in a production environment I'd guess the tires and the rest of it would last a lifetime for you. IIRC we paid $4500 for it.

Not a forklift expert, but man that's one helluva shop you got there! Congrats!

THIS!!! WOW, dream shop BIG TIME!!! Stoked for you man! :waytogo:

Funny you post this. I rented a forklift this weekend. Got all weekend for one day rental. Damn thing died on me last night before I could unload the last truck load. I've got to fill the propane use anyways so it may just be empty, or there is another issue like a dead battery. Missing work today because of it :angry1:. Have about 1300lbs of top heavy stuff in the bed of my pickup. Not driving the freeway with that much weight in it. Good luck with getting it running. Probably something simple.

Thanks for the info!! The dash does have a plate on it but it is pretty unreadable. If the hour meter works it was sitting on like 2900 hours so similar to the one you used to have. Glad to hear it sounds like a nice forklift.

It will be nice to have for the move because I will be able to palletize most of my garage stuff at the old house and have my neighbor load it onto trailers with his bobcat with forks and then bring to the new house and unload with the forklift. Since all the pallet racks are staying it will be great to access stuff on the racking. Not to mention I will be able to check the flex on my truck and decide where to set the bumpstops.

Thanks Guys!! Have not had much time to mess with the forklift yet since I technically don't own it until we settle. The current owner has a lot of their stuff in the garage on pallets already so I assume he will be using it to move so hopefully it will be running and ready to go when I move in!

rdn2 hope you get your forklift situation sorted out quickly.

I can pick up a dime with a forklift, does that make me an expert? Damn nice shop. And to think I was excited my new house came with a 3 car garage.

Mid 70s is my guess. Get a picture of the engine. I bet it is a mitsubishi 4 banger. Same as the Dodge D50 mini truck of that erra. Don't ask how I know:doah:

you also can do it with the forks tilted down and a single coin....

It may be a dual fuel, gas or propane. I actually prefer gas because of all the tar left behind(unless you use hd5 or 10 propane) but if its set up on propane then leave it that way. If you ever have a cylinder leaking you can rebuild it yourself as long as the barrel/rod/piston is grooved up real bad. Im not exactly sure where at on a clark but there should be a serial number stamped into the frame somewhere. It may be on the left or right side under the hood(seat). On the edge of the frame by where the battery sits or on the front behind where the mast is.

If you have any questions just ask. I dont normally work on these little baby forklifts but i have fixed plenty in the past.
