Hi guys, first post in a LOOONNG while. I don't usually need to post, if I want to know something about K5's or Chevy 4x4's I just start reading & always fid what I'm after!
Well, on to the question. I sold my uncle my '77 K5 a year & a half ago & just a few days ago bought it back. It had a crapload of extra stuff in the back including a speedometer that goes to 160mph. It looks factory as far as the numbers & pointer & all that, if it's a re-painted 100mph it's a DAMN good job! I've never ever heard of one, never seen one, I googled it, ebay searched it. Can't find any info. Found corvette & z28 guages online & it's not one of those. It maches chevy truck speedo exactly except for the 160mph part.
Unfortunatly my digital camera has a crapped out battery so I can't post a pic.

After all that typing you guys are probly gonna tell me they're in every other truck, but hey, thats what I'm trying to figger out!

Thanks- John

If its factory , think cop or work packages for Feds/Locals .

Could be another cars speedo fits exactly , but I never looked into it .

What numbers are stamped on the speedo ?

I would think it would have to be a cop car speedo. What other speedos out there would interchange with a blazers?

I by no means have seen it all but the highest I have seen a blazer speedo go was 120 and that was in a specific police option blazer.

Oh man , I just thought what if its Canadian or Mexican ? Wouldn't it read KM/H and be higher ?

Maybe a 70's Corvette with the bezel removed , then it kinda looks like it maybe fit if you cut the other cable off :dunno:

thats what i was thinking as i read the post....is it kph?

a cop car speedo will fit our trucks? a caprice classic police cruiser speedo?

what makes me lol.....how many people will ask how fast sum'n is, and look at speedo, that goes up to 160-165mph, and they assume the vehical will go that fast.

I also thought KPH. I've wnt 95 in my Blazer but that was pushing it with a 350 turbo and 4wd

Now my old 85 chevy 2wd i put to 125 with 350 turbo. It sounded like it was gonna blow up :haha::haha:

I purchased my '89 Jimmy in full gov't trim from the San Bernadino Sheriffs Department and it came equipped with an 85mph. The 85mph speedo was the same as all the others except it had a bunch of paperwork from GM in the glovebox stating it was accurate within 1-3mph at 45(?)

I saw one of these guages on ebay one time was selling for like 60 bucks from a company that gets them re-calibrates them and makes new faces for them so it reads a faster MPH. I tried to find it again but couldnt I will keep looking tho.

It will.

Downhill.

With a tailwind.

Holy crap. I am a tard. I read your replys & went out to the shop & got that sucker. It IS km/h, with mph where km/h usually is!

My first post, I prove myself a dum dum. Oh well, I'm STILL putting it in my K5. Passenger's eyes are gonna bug out, "....we're going a hundred & ten?? We're going a hundred & ten!"

Thanks guys. So you think it must be canadian?

Later- John

Maybe out of a 1980 or 1981 Z28 can't remember when CHP used it but I know they had a different speedo I put a 120 in my 1980 and the gauges were pretty close to our dashes.
