I'm looking to build a backup 24v generator to provide backup power to a solar/battery bank.

I plan to use a 13HP dual cylinder Lister/Petter air cooled diesel and want a high quality 100-200amp alternator to pair it with, no Chinese junk! Preferably this unit would have provisions for remote voltage sense and IGN lead to make it easier to let the engine idle for a few minutes before dropping a load on it. Low speed generation is also desirable as it would allow me to direct couple it to the engine eliminating belts and pullies, but not a requirement.

Otherwise it will be controlled by my own electronics.

Anyone wise in this area?

You can actually get your local alternator/ generator shop to build you a 24 volt 75amp 10si one wire alternator. I just had one built yesterday. @500$k5
If a 75amp will work for you, otherwise the higher amp stuff is a lot easier to find in 12v.

Yeah I really need > 75a and would prefer a non one wire. There used to be a shop local here, but I've not been there in 20 years, will check with them, if they still exist.

I assume there is super common large frame industrial/HD truck model kinda like a CS144 of the 24v world.

24 volt will be equipment. Here is a common cat 24v alt that I run on my D10R dozers and at least one of my 844 rubber tire dozers. Looks like it's 105 amp. I know my newer 844H rubber tire dozer is only 95 amps.
