I live in NC and I'm looking for another k5 that runs and drives in north or South Carolina. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend. I'm talking like the 1500-2500 dollar range. Anybody got anything?

Agreed. Just a casual observation listed several in my area for that price that were in running condition

I picked my '86 up outside of Florence, SC, 4 years ago for $2500. Rust free with all mechanicals working. They are out there, but it may take some digging. Mine was not listed on Craigslist, My dad saw it sitting with a sign on it while he drove to work.
ETA: After a full tune up, belt / hose replacement, fluid changes, trans flush, and water pump replacement (the truck sat for a while, so the seal gave up) I drove it over 10 hours back home to Ohio. The anemic 305 and the 3.08 gears on the 33" tires did not like the mountains much.
