After a long and confusing fight over a fusible link I found a shop that has done several LS swaps and he gave me a in line fuse 8 gauge fuse and works great. I am nervous because of the proximity the wires are to heat sources. Does anyone have any suggestions or favorites? Amazon has a solution that velcro wraps but I honestly do not have much experience with it. Is it better to have a solution that you pull the wires through or will a wrap solution work well. I do like the wrap solution because of convivence but would have no problem pulling everything apart and running it through. Just want it done right. Thank you.

I’ve used some soft, silver heat protective sleeve from Summit, seems like it was about 6’ long. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a similar product mixed with the performance stuff in O’Reillys.

So a fuse does not act the same as fuse link. A fuse link can handle short overloads better than replaceable fuse, unless you are using a "slow blow" fuse. I am sure they make slow blows in various sizes, and shapes. I have only used them in Honda rv generators, and electronic tools, ie DVO meters and newer battery diagnostic/chargers. All were 5amp, round cylinder type, similar to SFE glass fuse.

That DEI velcro stuff is sweet! The sleeve type product I used works great but the size / diameter was a little tight making it a slow PITA to install, that velcro "shroud" product is a great option.
