My buddy's wife's DD is a '98 Kia Sephia. 1.8L 4 cyl, auto trans, no AC, does have power steering. She threw a belt a few weeks back and he just finally got around to fixing it...
...only to discover what I believe is a tensioner is wobbly. The way he described it to me it's a pulley that is mid way between the crank/water pump and the alternator. It's not adjustable. Apparently the thing is very loose and he can just grab it and tweak it around. The belt he struggled to put on went flying as soon as he started the car.
Problem is he's in Lexington, KY and I'm in Traverse City, MI. I don't believe I've EVER seen under the hood of one of these.
Anybody know how this thing is setup? I'm betting the tensioner pulley is either replaceable or the whole thing mounts to the engine block in some way. Anybody know for sure?
