anybody now anything about custom painting?

I need to paint a welding helmet for a brother in law for christmas. I've done this before but just 2 colors and flamed. This time I wan't to do flames and skulls ghosted in the paint my question is should I use a candy or a pearl? Anybody have a clue?

to make true ghost stuff paint it first then use pearl then clear over that

Pearl...is used for ghost flames...I'll mix in a tablespoon per qt. of clear.
Also...I've been using harlequin...too.

Harlequin gives me a flip-flop ghost effect.
