Anybody put a jump seat or something similar between a K5's buckets?

Not asking for my Blazer. At work we are BADLY in need of some better offroad vehicles for some of my truck movement teams and the opportunity to get two good shape CUCV Blazers has come up. Only problem is we need them to fit 4-6 people safely.

Considering some of these guys are "full figured" saying these CUCV's are 5 seaters is pushing it. Thinking about ways to add an extra seat in them and I swear I remember someone on here putting a jump/middle seat out of another truck in theirs in place of the center console.

Anyone? What'd you use? We'd likely raid the junkyard and fab up a way to make them fit. Thoughts?

The newer chevy pickups had the jump seat in them and I've seen it done on this forum too. Your looking for 2000+ front seats from a pickup. I have the combo for my blazer but never bothered installing the jumpseat myself.

Only problem I see with the 3rd row would be space, mounting, and 40+ year old guys needing to climb in and out over the tailgate.

Some of the guys ain't as spry or young as they used to be.

Pimp, didn't know the newer Chevy's had that option. Thought they were all 60/40 benches or buckets?
Know if the seat belt is integrated?

63chevyII has a Jimmy with newer seats and the center/jump seat inplace of the console. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285828

It looked like a real nice setup when I swung by and checked it out. I didnt really look at how it was bolted in. But it looked like a pretty clean install. I still would like to get back there and test drive it and possibly pick that up. :D:waytogo:

Found a couple other threads. But this one had some good info and pics.

Honestly anything that involved would be a big no.

Just looking for a center seat to swap in and the rest be stock. We can fab some brackets to space the thing correctly but beyond that I'd never get funding for it.

wont a normal front bench seat out of any square body fit?? Nobody seems to want them, they should be a dime a dozen. someone may even consider trading you a bench for the buckets outa the blazer:dunno:

That woulda been my first choice, but it'd mean fabbing brackets for the bench. The pickup floor pans are materially different than that of the Blazer.

That at least would get you three guys up front.

The trick in the back is height. You could do sideways benches, "troop seat" style a la the old TLC's -- or the Chalet, for instance. You can then fit wide people, but they prolly have to be fairly short 'cuz the seats have to clear the wheel wells. (The Chalet manages 'cuz it has that gigantic fiberglass camper shell.) There just isn't enough space in the back, to fit both the legs and the heads of tall guys.

Now, if you could score an M1008, there were troop seats for the beds on those, albeit made outta 2x4's as I recall...

The center seat/folding console from a 00 and up truck could possibly fit between the stock buckets. The front feet will line up with the original front inboard holes but may kick the seat to the side by an inch or 2. Easily fixed by drilling new holes in the front feet. After that, all you would have to do is drill 2 holes for the rear feet and make a square plate for the underside of the floor where the bolts go through. Really simple and quick. Then you can utilize the stock front seats and belts.

Pretty sure the center seat will fit between the stock ones as the stock seats are not as wide as the 02 seats I used. This will effectively give more room for workability. As for a "husky" gentlemen sitting in the center seat... you're on your own on that one.

Check out my seat thread in the tech articles section. Honestly, it wasn't hard to do. And if you don't mind the seats being 1" or so biased to the pass side, all of the front holes will line up to the factory holes. After that just drill new rear holes and make up 4 square plates for the underside of the rear bolts. For a work truck like that, it'll be fine.

I'm way to obsessive compulsive to have the seats kicked over to one side, even just an inch. I don't think anyone would have even noticed, but I would know it was there. So, I went the extra mile.

I was taking parts from a 75 CC Friday and was considering taking the bench and seeing if I could practice my (nonexistent) fab skills to make it work. I found this thread searching for info. Has no one benched their blazer on here before?

If I didn't love my vinyl seats so much I'd be all over the 40/20/40 seats.
