Spotted one yesterday on a newer 3/4 ton cargo van in a junkyard in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Not sure what price they'd want for it, but thought I'd post it up as I haven't seen many available. I'm willing to investigate it on my next junkyard trip if anybody is interested in it.

Gold!!!!

If it's cheap it wouldn't be bad to grab it. People will pay decent money for them as they are hard to find.

Yeah...I know they're hard to find. And I don't think this particular yard would value the axle highly (not sure). But I have 4 extra axles right now. 3 14bff and 1 D44. I'm not sure wifey would be happy with getting a piece of iron that I don't plan to use in the long run. At least, not until I'm down an axle. Anybody wanna buy a '78 (or so) 14bff with 4.10 gears? Will post up a listing if there's interest.

I suppose I could at least check the 14bsf axle ratio next time I go to the yard (famous last words :haha:). What value does a 6-lug 14bsf command? Didn't you just build one for your blazer?

Yah. I actually took an 8 lug housing and put 6 lug shafts and backing plates on it because the 6 lug housing was so rotted through.

They put those really stupid u bolt plates on the bottom of them and they hold water and salt and everything. The tubes on mine were leaking gear oil..

8 lug ones are everywhere though.

van axle should be wider also .

I know that my '97 14bff is 2" wider than my '77 14bff (61" and 63" between wheel mounting surfaces, if I recall correctly). I didn't see that as a problem unless rubbing became a concern. Are there other issues with the spacing?

nope . not realy .

just nice for guys who want wider rear with out bolt on spacers.

I have a van width 14ff in my STUBBY crew cab build. widest stock setup of 14ff.
