lots of them around here...
We are close to the atlantic ocean(15 miles away) so we can get salt ater crabs pretty easy..they come up on the beaches during low tide,if your fast enough they are not hard to catch...
The Taunton river flows thru my town,it eventually dumps into the ocean near Fall River MA...where the fresh water meets the salt water about 5 miles inland, its all marshy and kind of swampish...there are hundreds of Blue crabs and Fiddler crabs there all the time in good weather...I filled a 5 gallon bucket with them in about 15 minites--but a game warden saw us,and informed us they were not "in season",so he let us keep 2 and had to dump the pail out!
...they didn't taste very good anyway!..
One guy who was fishing there said we were nuts to eat them, that they were probably full of pollution!--I asked him if he thought the fish he caught was any better, but he didn't answer me!...he called the crabs "cockroaches of the sea"--said all they do is eat dead stuff off the bottom, same with lobsters too!..I'm not too crazy about shellfish or clams,so despite living close to places I could go to catch them,I dont bother...A lot of EELS here too!
--those things are NASTY looking!..look like they came from outer space!..
