I have a 98 Explorer V8 AWD w/ the 8.8 rearend. I need to replace the axle seal im guessing because the 90 weight is leaking out of the axle, onto the wheel, and onto the ground. Do I need to pull the cover, take out a c-clip, and then will the seal be right on the outside of the axle where I can tap a new one in???

you're gonna need to pull the wheel, the cover, the cross pin bolt, the cross pin, pull the cclip from the shaft, pull the shaft out after removing the brakes, replace the axle seal, and any brake pads if they have diff fluid contamination..

oh... 1/2" socket for the diff cover, 5/16 SIX POINT wrench for the cross pin bolt, 10mm wrench for the caliper, a seal puller, a 2x4 and a hammer...
